Taky, I'd like to see your avatar pic large like this one. I think it's great!![]()
I know enough to know what works ... at least until it blows up.Then I know it don't.

lol
anyways, was that case that i posted earlier a good one?
It's crap, get a Pelican case instead, they make very good cases (I have two). If your parents are too cheap, then either go out and get a part time job flipping burgers or lay off the sugar and exercise some patience. Once you get your camera, then start freelancing for money, the worse thing that could happen is you might get better as a film maker.![]()
You guys are terrible. He is obviously getting pissed off each time those cat pictures are posted.

While I agree, his posting was rather obnoxious and temperamental, I can also see that:
Over five of you didn't even post relevant to the topic, and even baited him by criticizing his attitude with pictures.
Having been a moderator before, I can tell you that his posting was bad, but baiting him is just as bad. If you guys didn't want to answer his questions, you could've just moved on to another thread and ignored him. Posting pictures of cats on red bull, while humorous to some, does nothing but provoke his behavior.
On topic, that might be a good starting kit, but it's not "everything" you need. You'll need different lenses, a DOF adapter if you want to shoot film with a shallow depth of field. Another mic. Etc.
You need to re-read the thread from the beginning — I'll admit to starting the LOLcats thing, but only after recommending specific products and threads where they have previously been discussed (complete with links).
When he posted questions three minutes later which were obviously answered in the linked thread, IMHO he crossed the line between "excited, anxious, newbie" and "spoiled brat who can't be bothered to do any research and prefers to tap everyone on their collective shoulder to answer his dip$#it questions one by one."
If THOSE people choose to find me rude, they have my most cordial invitation to contact Canon USA Customer Support and complain!
Wow, I just read through this thread and I have a major headache now!My best advice for you would be to buy a case in person at a store once you have the camera and accessories. In that way you can test fit everything and make sure that you're getting exactly what YOU want. Unfortunately, cases are one of those funny items that don't lend themselves too well to buying online unless you have already seen/touched the product in the store.
Alright, I'm a n00b...I know...
Now, I have read this entire thread and admittedly, am looking at a similar deal...
So here's the deal:

I'm fully aware that all of these "extras" are crap but a hard case and soft case? I mean, it's not exactly a lot of savings, I'm aware but I'm not sure I can find that price anywhere else, I mean, B&H has them at 799 right now.
I've already got a beautiful Davis and Sanford Tripod. I don't really need another except as a prop for a project I'm working on.
Now, The wide angle lens is probably really bad too but I figure I can get a Kenko later (with a step up ring). I'm a producer so this whole shooting thing is really new to me...We use a Kenko wide angle on the Sony HVR-A1U.
Now, I'm not sure what I'm looking at in comparison. I understand the whole CMOS vs CCD debate (and it's probably pretty theoretical, y'all seem to like your HVs and in this price range, I'm not sure I'm finding an HD CCD 16:9 with good optics. I've looked at some footage on youtube (which admittedly is a flawed format even in "HD") and it seems pretty comparable.
I digress.
This deal seems pretty convenient for nothing more than the cases and the price...
Can we find me a better price than 759.99?
I post here because well...the sticky referred to the 20 and 30...
Also, I came across a line on an XL-1 for a touch more...I don't know whether that would give a better picture...I'm more sold on a DOF adapter with a good lens later.
Thoughts?
So, assuming all goes well with that purchase, it IS a grey market camera.
Resellerratings has mixed reviews. I think a lot of the reviews are faked on that page. I think I'm just going to order from B&H and be done with it. I got my Davis and Sanford Tripod from them and something else that I don't remember...
I bought my lens locally, the lights locally, the mic was from Amazon from that company with the huge catalog.
Anyway, I absolutely love my tripod, best $189 ever spent. Incredible value, it had a wheel dolly included and it's got a good feeling fluid head...
I digress...
Mods, can you take down my link previously as I can't edit at this point? I mean, it's a grey market camera and I don't think we should be posting links to that sort of thing...
