    Default Vegas 8 & HV30

    Hi,
I don't understand if it's better to convert the M2T file to AVI, when my final assemblage (with music, transactions, text and so on) I'll transfer into the miniDV, by Print to tape HDV function.
My idea is, before to save into the miniDV, to render my works on the PC to check it, using the CineForm HD codec or the Sony AVC codec.
I've got a little question: if I convert the file M2T to AVI (using the CineForm codec), can I copy my works into the miniDV, with the Print to tape HD function also ???
Thanks a lot, and I'm sorry about my English ...
    Ciao

Ritmia, it really depends on the speed/processing power of your computer. Slower, underpowered PC's running Vegas have trouble previewing M2T's in real time unless you switch to "Draft" mode in the preview pane. Creating intermediate AVI's eliminates this problem because there's no decoding necessary.

I'm running a quad-core Intel box, and most of the time I can preview native M2T files without any problem. Sometimes, if I have a lot of processes going at once, playback gets sketchy and I have to switch to "Draft" mode.

Usually, people convert source clips to Cineform before they start editing, not after.

Here you are my PC: HP Pavilion m8170.it, Intel Core 2 Duo E6750, 2,66GHz, 4MB of cache of second level, 1333MHz di Front Side Bus and 3GB RAM, Microsoft Vista 32bit. Hard disk 500GB 7200 rpm, GeForce 8500GT.
If it isn't enough, I've got an Italy's documentation to convert the M2T file to AVI file, using the Vegas Script joined with the CineForm codec.
Thanks a lot about your advice

Sorry to hijack but I'm trying to find the correct setting to save a file to PC, rather than for hosting to websites.
I've tried the usual way but the file comes up blank when playing.
Also, cropped the settings for Vimeo (thanks to http://www.hv20.com/showthread.php?t=9639) with success.
But I don't need to host the file on the net, just save to PC and transfer to USB.

Thanks in advance and apologies to the OP.
