Help help help help please someone help!
I have read a lot in the forum here and others since... well, let me tell you a tale.
I wanted a semi-pro hidef camera. The HV30 was this and more, it was affordable and readily available. I bought it and the tapes and started monkeying around with it.
About 4 hours ago I decide to see how the videos look on the PC, just to become familiar with the process of taking film from camera onto PC. I look at the cables, 2 for the Tv, a power cable and a USB. I plug in the USB open microsoft movie maker and .... nothing.
I turn off the cam, i search for hardware I do everything you would expect but nothing.
I search online to see if anyone else had this issue and it seems EVERYONE on Gods green earth has.
Some say use a firewire cable and its easy... Yeah? I dont have a firewire port or cable, I have a PC with USB ports.
Some say you need to load drivers? But I don't have the CD of drivers and wouldn't know what to do with them if I did.
Can someone please help? I just need to know how to plug the camera into the PC and have my movies move across.
Please
Anybody
This is so far $1200 of pain, and not the fun HD cam experience I wanted
kindest regards
Darren

you need a firewire cable and if you have a laptop, get something like this
http://www.lagoom.com/ZONET_3_Port_1...id-561205.html
then you need a editing program, you wont be able to capture HDV on a PC with WMM. if you cant buy one right now, download a free trial. Sony vegas, adobe premiere. search the forum you'll find more than what you need.
p.s. why did you pay for 1200.00 for the hv30, its much cheaper at B&H, i'll just assume you bought accesories.

Troublemaker
It's the descriptive title like yours that makes this forum so great!

Check the FAQ; you need firewire:

It's number three (3) of that F.A.Qs - READ FIRST BEFORE YOU POST - thread.

if you have a desktop PC - you need to have this installed.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Inc-_-00998060
And next time you spend $1200 - download and read the Manual to see if this gear suits your needs.

Don't even wait till the next time you spend $1200, read the manual NOW! Hold the camera in your hand and start reading from page 9 to 98. Use the camera to help you understand each thing the manual states.
