I have one of these

although not from this particular seller. I am quite happy with it. It is wide enough that the LCD screen can open with still enough room for your fingers on the grip.
To be even more steady, I combine it with a two-shoulder binocular harness like this

and sometimes an ultralight monopod.

I don't own one and it looks like it might get in the way of a mounted mic.

the best way to find a handle is to look for an old vhs camera handle
You sir are a genius
I was thinking for days and days on what to do about a handle, until I read your post and remembered the old Philips Explorer SVHS camera sitting in my spare room! It has a removable handle on the top which is basically just a hotshoe mount. So I took it and slightly modified it to fit the HV30 accessory shoe.
I was concerned about not being able to use my Rode SVM with the handle mounted, so I made an extension piece which slides into the accessory shoe which is on the handle itself. Pics show it better
Excuse the red dust all over the camera and mic, I recently shot a 5 day long 4x4 competition in the Australian outback so you can imagine the dust![]()
what's the lens you're using tooch? I guess it's not a fish eye? Great job.
It's the Raynox 6600, great wide angle lens
I have replied to your private message also![]()
Yeah i asked my friend who has been skating and filmer for about 7 years where he got his handle for old camera he had and he told me that and i thought he was a genious as wel
I really like my SpiderBrace.
Hello guys... I'm newbie here but has been doing video works since last year.
I just wanted to share my build.A handle for a Panasonic PV-GS150.
From initial concept to the actual build of this little videocam.
The Panasonic NV-Gs150 3CCD chip camera looks semi-pro with this rig.
Camera handle were made of thick Plywood, I've mounted
a Rode Videomic, a ROWA Wide Conversion lens and
a plastic lens hood made from a candy canister.
The initial Photoshop concept.
The Final Output.
As of the moment I don't have HV30 but I'm planning to buy one so I should build new handle for it when it comes.
Any comments and suggestions on my initial rig would be appreciated.
how do you look through the viewfinder

What was that? You need total emotional concentration. You can point your finger at the moon and lose yourself in the finger and miss the moon.
Cool rig. I want to make something with a top handle. I just have a problem with procrastination and laziness.
How much does weigh?

Hey guys... heres my initial plan for the RIG when my hv20 arrives.
I guess and hoping I could do this.
I'm planning to build a mic adapter with xlr input at the back base part of the handle.
or it could be an power battery.
Any suggestions on this layouts....please do so.
Handle could be made out of Plywood or a fiber plastic.
haha looks hella sick. canon xha1 anyone?
you should sell it. for good prices i presume. ha
The back part is just cosmetics but I'm planning to host it for a mic adapter like beachtek or DIY.
Thanks biggeorge...
I'll post my pics by the time being...
hey arbi_ph, that looks really nice
I like the design. I am guessing that is a photoshop though, right? I don't think I'd be too keen on one made of plywood, but if it was plastic I, that might be different.
Since you don't yet have the camera, you might not be aware how important it is to have access to the back of the camera when shooting: the record and function buttons and menu joystick are all located there, just to the right of the battery.
And speaking of the battery, the release catch for it is on the underside of the camera ... meaning every battery change will require removing it from the rig.
