I would say the HV30 is definitely sexier looking

    Feel free to comment.

Oh By the way - the RED Scarlet boys set up a facebook account. Any taker to do this job for HV20 / HV30 ? It will be cool

    Default Small change to configuration

I was having weight balance problem with the first set up. The head is way too heavy. So spend a night to take the whole thing apart and put it back together again. Now the new setup is much better. It balance nicely once I put the XLR adapter onto the bottom of the plate. Also there is one extra bit I have add which is a DIY battery holder (I use a belt clip to hold the monitor battery) ideally it should sit on the back of the camera and I could even put wireless mic received to it. Let see if my design works.

Also once I switch the handle to the other side. The whole set up all of sudden become 2cm shorter. Which contribute to the better weight balance.

Next thing I want to do is to make a DIY cage like the one from RED ONE that will be awesome. Because I do need a solution to hold the Letus Extreme in place (it's heavy!) and I need the lens to align with the Matte box properly as well. So the cage is one of those solution I could think of. Anyone try that before?

BTW this set up is for shooting a feature film.

What achromat/macro lense was your HV20 set up using? Also, do you have any footage from either set up?

Lastly, I second the notion that you should list all the parts of BOTH set ups.

The HV20 looks a lot sexier. It looks less complicated, and thus sexier. Like women.

Anyway, this may sound like a stupid question -- n00b speaking -- but, uh... could a 35mm lens for a photography camera... work on a camcorder? Like HV20...? I mean, it should... right?

You might want to read through this thread:
    http://www.hv20.com/showthread.php?t=2564

There's a lot more to a 35mm adapter than just attaching it to the camera.

Default Will list all the parts here

    HI All

Thank you for all the post. Been really busy.

    Gonna shot something this Thursday.

Everything apart from the Letus Extreme can be purchase from ebay. I will list all the sellers here once I have the time.

I have three lens at the moment (I use to have 8)

Nikon AI 50mm (1.4) this is a legendary lens. If you want to find one lens to use all day long - this is the one.

I also have a Nikon 28-70mm (F2.8) telephoto. Haven't try it yet but the picture I took with my D40x looks really great. Good for close and shallow DOF.

Lastly I have another Nikon 24mm (F2.8) I really want to get a old AI (F1.4 - F.2) which is absolutely beautiful and 24mm actually closer to our eye sight (if you are using 35mm chip / so a 1/3 chip blow up pretty much the same )

It took me over 2 years research / try and error to come to this set up. My first one was a Redrock DIY kit which I really didn't like. Plastic is just cheap. The second one is custom made by GG but he fold his business, so you can't even buy that anymore. The focusing screen was not very good. So I replace with a Canon EE focus screen. Everything become so much sharper. Also one word of advice - don't save money on just using static adapter. They are no good. Use vibrating adapter. It make everything sharper.

The Letus is expensive but boy - it really is money well spend (it cost almost 2 HV30) the picture came out (with good lens) are just stunning. Again I will need to find the time to post the footage here for you guys to see.

The lens in the picture is a Helios 35mm lens (made in Japan) with M40 mount. It just a normal 35mm film lens.

It was custom made by Daniel GG. But he fold his business (it cost £210) full set up. If you want to see the film I shot with the HV20. Visit http://www.etcfilms.net

The monitor is purchase from ebay.

I stumble upon it by chance. I was thinking getting a Ikan V7000 (or V8000HD) at that time. So I read up the spec, then I came across this one on ebay and to my surprise. The spec is exactly the same.

It cost £79.99 (including postage to UK from Hong Kong) as soon as I open it - I realize this is exactly the same like the Ikan V7000 (even the back has the same slot to attach a battery adapter to it!) I guess this must be from the same factory.

After a bit of calibration (whatever monitor you use - need to do this anyway) it's pretty impressive. I won't say it's the sharpest in the world but it's over 1000 pixel horizontal and 300 pixels vertical (strange isn't it?) it's very good for focus.

What Achromat/Macro Lens is that on the HV20? And, do you have any footage of that set up?
