    Question HDV to PC

I tried to transfer some recording using Adobe Premiere Elements and Ulead Videostudio 11. Im able to control my HV20... but nothing appears on my computer. Only on the viewfinder.

Im using a 4pin to 6pin 1394 cable connected on the HDV/DV plug on the camera.

    Is this normal?
    What im I doing wrong??

    Thanks for the help.

Did you check the computer to see if you DID transfer/capture the file though? It might be sitting on your computer.

Same thing happened to me using Vegas, I had to d/l and install ffdshow to get the preview pane working.

Finally I was able to make it work with HDVSplit and Magix Movie Edit.
But Adobe and Ulead dont seem to work.

Probably they dont support the HV20...

Im trying to get a demo of Vegas to see if it works

Default HDV transfer from HV20 to PC

As a total newby to Digital camcorders, I had a similar problem with Premiere Elements when I started with it 2 weeks ago.

My problem was solved when I discovered via the Help system that Elements does not show the video in the Capture Pane while recording from the camcorder to the computer. Also that I must wait for the recording to be indexed & conformed after recording & before attempting to preview it (which takes amny minutes for a large file - dependant on PC spec).
    Hope this helps

Thanks to all the other forum users contributions I now know infinitely more than 2 weeks ago - but also recognise that it's only "the tip of the iceberg" !

Try capture it with HDVSplit. It has a preview window. But isn't your camcorder also has a nice LCD screen you can preview what's being captured?
