Default Audio Sample of DM-50 Requested

I am looking to get an external mic to cut out the tape drive noise. Would someone with a Canon DM-50 Mic please upload an audio sample. It would be most helpful to hear a comparision of the camcorder w/o external mic and with the mic in the shotgun and the stereo 1 position, respectively. Just talking in the testing, testing 123 format would suffice. Thank you very much in advance.

Im interested in this too. Also the Rode SVM looks a good option. It would be great to hear them both compared to each other and the internal mic

    Hey guys,

I also debated for months over the Rode VM/SVM vs. the DM50. I eventually went with the DM50 because of its versatility (stereo or shotgun) and its size for travel. It's a really compact mic. I ended up buying a windscreen from The Windcutter as well which works a treat.

I have attached a simple sound test - just counting to 10 with no mic (ext), then shotgun, stereo1 and stereo2. I am standing about a metre away from the camera and I have boosted the audio in post a little.

Note you can still hear the tape drive, but I have found this tends to be neglible with the windscreen. At the end of this video http://www.vimeo.com/414121 you can hear the stereo1 setting in action with the windscreen
