    Default Ulead videostudio 11 plus

I have the 30 days trial of ulead videostudio 11 plus on my computer.

    2 problems:

    1) I can't capture from my HV20? When I want to capture my computer crashes -> my computer restarts every time

When the computer has restarted windows says there was a big problem happened...

Now I capture with nero 7 and that works but I want to capture with ulead...

    2) The captured "movie" with nero is an MPEG. When I add this into ulead videostudio the mpeg "movie" is black

Are all these problems come because I have the 30 days trial of ulead?

    Thanks in advance!

I've been thinking about getting Ulead Video Studio 11+. I've had a lot of questions answered over at the Ulead.com website...good forum but I have noticed a lot of traffic with the product...maybe it's operator related...either way questions are answered..good luck.

I did not imply that it might be operator related on your part...only that there are a lot of new comers...like with every hobby.

I am also using the 30 day trial and what i do is capture using HDVsplit, trim and convert to mpeg using mpegstreamclip, then they work fine in ulead

That's right, Ulead Video Studio 11+ doesn't work with HV20 for capture. Actually the Ulead Video Studio 10 + HV10 fix patch (download available at Ulead support) works better.

I am trying the VS 11+ trial also. I was able to capture with it, but it doesn't split clips as it should. I tried HDVSplit, but I read that VS11+ doesn't handle the field order from its files properly. Maybe mpegstreamclip fixes this problem. In any case, when I encode to DVD format using VS11+, the results are less than stellar.

I am also trying Sony Movie Studio Platinum, which I understand has a better encoder, but my PC doesn't seem to have the horsepower to edit HDV with that app (it is an Athlon XP 3000+). I am going to try to use VS11+ for editing, then render to DV, then import the DV into Sony MS to encode to MPEG to see how it looks.

What are folks experience with the encoding quality of VS11+ versus Sony MS? The particular clip I am testing with looks fantastic on my 56" DLP TV via HDMI direct from the HV20.
