Default Premiere Pro CS3 Audio Synching Problem

Just got Premiere Pro CS3 and obviously, the first thing I did was hook up my Canon HV20 and tried to edit a small snippet clip with my friends. Everything went dandy until I got to importing the footage and noticed the audio was ridiculously out of synch. It wasn't a very long clip, probably around four minutes and was wondering if any of you had experienced this problem?

Here is what might be happening: in your recording session you stopped and then started recording one or more times. When you started recording again after a stop you did not start recording at the exact frame you stopped at. Thus there were some blank or unrecorded frames between your stop and start.

When you import, the blank video frames are not captured but the time code does continue. So after the blank frames have passed and the video capture begins again the audio associated with the capture has shifted from the video.

This is what could be happening.

What you need to do to probably avoid this is do an end of the last scene search from the play menu to reset/reposition the tape.
