Default Wonder what Canon would say ...?

I wonder what Canon would say to producing an HV20 alternate camera that has a front-end that is factory designed to take any Canon EF lens.. and even incoporate the autofocus into the lens motor.
Perhaps even sell that specific model without any lens to get the price way down. I guess they'd perhaps have to toss the stabilization parts...

Do you think they'd sell like proverbial hotcakes or what ??

Well, idk.. The HV line will probably stay as a hand held camera (they would be stupid to change that). When it's "just a hand held" it will never be designed to be pro consumer but just close enough to make the kids happy with only $1100 bucks to spend. Not that it's a bad thing.

But, you never know what the HV30 might bring to the table in the future. Which could be a while or never since the HV20 is so good.. Why mess with something that's a big hit and works extremely well.. *shrug*

I'd love to see it (since I have several nice Canon EOS "L" lenses). But I can tell you what they'd say: "Buy an XL-H1 if you want to use your still camera lenses on a camcorder."

Sounds great, if you don't mind your wide angles becoming normals and your normals becoming telephotos. (the telephotos become telescopes, in case you're wondering)

If canon is like Panasonic, the next HV will boast more but with inferior quality components and with some features missing.
