    Default HV20 - HDMI or IEEE 1394 for HD capture?

    Hey all,

    i have buy HV20 yesterday ,after i read some thread of your site. It is my first camcorder and i wish i have made a good choise .

    I have some questions and i hope to help me . (I have laptop - WIN XP with IEEE 1394 only - model HP nw8440)

    1. Which program i must buy to capture 16:9 HD 1080i ?
    2. I must have HDMI to tranfer HD quality to my pc-program ?
    3. If i must have HDMI it is possible to find pcmcia HDMI card or a external video card?

    Hi, Tsouplakis, and welcome to the forum!

    You won't need HDMI: the HV20 records to tape in the HDV format, which is easily transferred to the computer with IEEE 1394, also known as FireWire. You will need to purchase a FireWire cable with a 4-pin connector on the camera end and either a 4-pin or 6-pin connector on the computer end, depending on which style your laptop has.
