    Default After Effects CS3 won't import .m2ts...

    I finally sprung and bought AE CS3 after using vegas for years, because I really wanted a top program...problem is everything is set up and installed, registered, etc. but it won't import any .m2ts or MPEG files...wtf?

    I looked at help, and it says MPEG files are all supported and even lists off .m2t, .mpg, etc.)

    Sent a message to adobe tech support, and they say it should work..

    Has anyone else had this problem? It's legit non-trial and I would have hoped it worked after spending A THOUSAND DOLLARS... -_- I hadn't installed any Adobe software before this except for Acrobat Reader for .pdfs...and everything in AE CS3 -works-, so I dunno wtf is wrong.

    Halp! ;_;

    *edit* I tried rendering the .m2t to an .avi using Huffyuv, and AE can accept that...and if vegas can use the .m2ts and everything, why is AE having an issue with them? -_-

    From what I know, CS3 doesn't support AVCHD. At least the originally published version didn't.

    However, if your AE can't read .m2t mpeg2 either, it means that you are using the pirated or demo version, in which case you won't get support here.

    I installed using the DVD they sent me and the CD-KEY on the back of the jewel case. :P Could it be a codec conflict or something? Is there a way to find out if something is conflicting?

    Make sure you have the latest update installed. From what I know, AVCHD was not supported in CS3 and .m2ts is usually AVC wrapped in an mpeg2 stream. As for real m2t mpeg2 not working, that's not normal.

    i had this problem but got round it simply be re-naming any mpeg files i had (whether .mpg or .m2t etc) to .avi. i didnt have to convert them or anything, simply rename the extensions. cs3 accepts em now no problem. hope this helps

    The best video format supported by After Effects is MPG or MOV.
    m2ts container format with some codecs are accepted by AE, and sometimes renaming m2ts to mpg can also work, but if you unfortunately can not importing the m2ts files t After Effects, the first way you need to do is to make a converison, convert m2ts to mpg with same video resolution, same video codec, same bitrate to keep perfect quality for After effects, and i have found Aunsoft Final Mate for mac has special mpg/mov output format for AE. You can have a try.
