Not really interested in "work", ( I am well and truly retired and loving it) but welcome to Australia. Its a great place. i moved from Plymouth 30 years ago and never regretted it. If you get to the Sydney area, contact me.
There are more than a few indopendents working in your field. If i bump into any of them at conferneces etc, i will quiz them.
Most vidiographers thsat I meet are in the Wedding budiness, or some are speciallising in Music events.
Cant really help much more at this time.

I live in Perth, I love it here, Sydney isn't bad either...
There is plenty of work in Perth at the moment, truck loads. The state is booming in a big way mostly thanks to our mining industry at the moment!
It's become a very expensive place to live, but it really is tops. You'll love it.
Let me know when you get here, we'll meet up.
I'm 30, married, 1 baby girl, pretty easy going and relaxed haha...
end of year you say? best time to come, summer time! You'll love the 30-40deg C weather, beaches, bbq's, etc.
You can show me how the ____ to use FCP hehehe... kidding.

I agree that perth is wonderful, i lived there for a short spell ,but was on a holiday visa which meant i couldnt look for proper work, but ill be able to this time around, i know house prices are way up now, which is a shame, but hopefully growing population might mean work opportunities. when you say work, you mean just generally im guessing, not specifically shooting/editing type stuff. im thinking of of possibly doing some wedding vids to get me started up, havn't done them in a long while.
but im pretty sure i can offer something a little more pro than whats being offered out there at the mo.
ill drop you a line in september
