    Default Sony VCL-MHG07 wide-angle tests

Following on from this thread where i have posted some screenshots:

I purchased the Sony VCL-MHG07 wide-angle lens on ebay and here are some initial tests:

I had to try and hold the lens steady in front of the camera since I don't have my 43-52mm step up ring yet. Footage is all 25p and TV 50 (brighness and contrast -1 I think) I left colour depth at +1 which was a mistake in hindsight. I did some other tests using cine etc which all came out well too.

Anyway, generally I think sharpness is pretty good and barrel distortion could be worse. Not great but definitley worth the money. What do you guys think?

    any opinions?

This is my first wide angle lens so I'm not sure what to look for. I am satisfied with the sharpness which was my main concern.

I think they looked very nice. The color was really bright. I need a wide angle lens. I have had my camera a little while and a wide angle is a must. Does your auto focus work with a wide angle?

yes autofocus works fine - just takes a little longer than normal in switching between lens on and off - as you can see in the m2t's. I cannot zoom more than a little though without loosing focus. I guess thats a good reason to get the more expensive canon lens for the zoom through. I am happy with this for the money though.

I'm eagerly awaiting MAL's shootout to see how mine compares.
