Thanks, Mike. I must be stupit, but I had no idea you were the Mike whose film I commented on on another forum, excellent movie, I stumbled across the post and something intrigued me, I certainly understand about wanting feedback on different versions, I have 10 or 15 for every film. I can only say my ignorance to identity shows my opinion came out straight no chaser.

That was really beautiful Elmer. I still think you will have your own TV show one day.

Merci beaucoup, Monsieur Le Braceface, for the kind words. Now if you were only a network executive...

I'm also glad you got the flick going, I'm not sure how to make vimeo movies, I've heard of them, kinda.

Got your summer tan going? Ah, Ft Lauderdale! Break out the girls gone wild, bro!

Mmm a non-attractive message in a non-attractive format. You probably gave the right view but you also have to somehow capture and keep the viewer watching. Hard to give some advice but I would suggest to try to skip the pictures of that person talking, and to try to speed it up a bit. Maybe show some other perspectives on it...

Oh that made me feel sick . She was raped early on and easily then found other vampires out there who could keep feeding on her as a sexual being as her main value. Likley most of the beings in the park of lost souls have a similiar story.

Seems Amy didnt feel much love in her life . Not much from the artist or the filmaker either.

Many "artists" find value in a woman as long as she she can pose naked, and look "F''ckable" .
She might pose all tied up , maybe legs spread and mouth gagged ( a scene she likely has replayed for many years), or even a sexified faux hanging might be a turn on . Course the portrait the "artists" desires is one tiny well rehearsed slice of this abused woman ....When the "artists" glimpses the full human .....scars bleeding through the lens, at what point is their compassion and care for the "muse" part of the picture? I didnt find any there.Dust to Dust.

RIP Amy . Hope in the next world you find some protection, some tenderness and care.

    Good luck with step 2!

Is this serious or is this just a sketch?
As a video IMHO it's way too much narrative... And the walking shots are extremely bumpy. Maybe you should check out a steadicam.. even a poor man's steadicam would help a lot

It's a "v-log" so I would assume that it would be heavily narrative based, considering the purpose. I guess in other instances there could be more variety, but I doubt that re-telling a story that already happened allows much of that.

    Very good.
A story! More power to you.

    Hey Elmer,

I really enjoyed that. Something about the way you tell a story intrigues me. I could see you doing big things, commentating seems to be in your blood.

I couldn't disagree with you more. I'd like to see/hear more narrative. Have a look at the index page for this sub forum. It's full of scenes from, trailers for, tests, my first attempt with the XYZ adaptor, storyless-meaningless moving pictures set to music etc.

Here's a story, well written and narrated. Sure the stairwell shots are bit shaky, but the rest looks good. Hell, the guy even went to the trouble of mic'ing it up properly.

yeah I think it's refreshing to see something that is NOT about the gear or technical-fetish oriented, I really enjoyed it as well and it has a lot of humanity in it, the story itself.

I believe you could even write a full length script based on the story's main concept and the characters (well , the persons in this case) are intriguing, I actually became interested in knowing how your previous job was, what kinda life you had before meeting the preacher, etc.

very cool indeed and it triggers a lot of questions, first time I see a v-log like this
"The most important thing is not what's inside the camera, but rather what's in front and behind it"

Thanks, everybody, for checking out the v-log. I hope to do more. I've made many films that are on YouTube and my website, many with the HV20. The v-log is intended as an outlet for improvisational material, and bits, poems, songs and new ideas I got hanging around.

My most recent film is an animation. If it's not presuming too much on an HV20 forum, I think you might enjoy.

Yes I agree about that. But what's the added value of this video? IMHO just the text would do

Not to lecture----just conversing, but then it would be a blog and not a v-log. I think text is frequently insufficient in relaying subtleties. After all, Homer was a speaker, not a reader.

As a tangent to our conversation, as a poet, what I like about this age is that poets can document their work on video as opposed to the printed page which has been the accepted (and somewhat stuffy) norm espoused by academics for a few centuries. There are very few poets I've seen whose work is not enhanced by their voice.

Still, however I feel, you certainly have a right to your own preferences.

    Elmer

I have to first admit that some of your videos - I don't get. But I realize that its only because thats the human nature anyway.

Your video "Elmer's Got A Girlfriend" is one I regard as a real highlight to possibilities. The Preacher and His Wife, to me, is another open-door. You have a unique style, yet REAL, quality about the way you speak in relation to the way you appear in your videos. And the best thing about your videos is that you can throw anything together in "home movie" style and throw your clever edits on top and come out with something interesting. Isn't that the bottom line anyway? Capturing someone else's attention?

    You caught mine.

Thank you for watching and commenting.

If you don't get some of my flicks, you're not alone. There are times I'm not sure exactly why I do some things but I do them anyway. It's why I'm a dangerous man. And though I make many mistakes, I try not to put a governor on my intuition.

As to my style, I am basically opposed to slick camera work. I feel life is clumsy, not smooth and calculated, and "home movie" style best represents life, especially the immediacy of it. Slick, pro camera-work seems artful, inserts distance and is less real. Of course, great artists can make anything work; so I can still respect and enjoy such art, like I love surreal poetry though I'm a straight ahead Missouri boy.

If you get a chance, you might check out my new animated flick, LONELY JOE. (see above) It's probably one of my best.

May you have a boffo 2010!

Default BROWN RICE - a film by Elmer Lang

Ok, there are only a couple HV20 shots in this mostly animated production, and mayhap the mod will toss it. So you better hurry to view:

FROM HOMER TO ELMER, the vlog
    presents
BROWN RICE -- A scantily-clad beauty, gratuitous sexiness...but enough about my role.
There's also a gratuitously hot babe. The odd thing is,
we're not even what's risqué about this flick.
