    After installing these themes, all my themes (original plus these new ones) are in Spanish. Any idea why that is and how to put them back to English?

    Good luck.

    Doh. Yup it does.

    But it's easy enough to fix.

    Browse to C:\Program Files\Sony\DVD Architect Studio 4.5\themes

    Delete the themes you downloaded.
    Restart DVDArchitect

    Not sure which themes you copied over and which ones are the original?
    In XP, browse to the above directory and choose view-details. And then in the column headers right click and choose creation date. Delete any theme created on the date you installed the themes.

    I attached a gif of the default themes.

    (also, you may want to back up your themes directory just in case)

    Also on an interesting side note. It appears the theme files (.thm) are actually zipped files. So if you were to rename one theme from groovy.thm to groovy.zip you could then open it and grab the images (they are in psd and png format) and open and hand edit the xml file used to generate the theme. If someone was so inclined they could go through and change all the spanish to english.

    It looks to me like he wrote some of them in spanish and some in english and for some reason when dvd architect opens them it's converting them all to spanish. I suspect it's poorly written xml on the Spanish author's part but I really don't know much about xml to say.

    Oh, I got it fixed alright. I'm just trying to figure out why my DVDA-supplied themes all became Spanish, too. I won't be using these new ones until I can figure that out.

    Yes, .thm files are zip files. BTW, there's no need to change the .thm files to .zip. Just right click the .thm file you want to open and select "Open With ...". Then click your zip program if it's in the list or browse to it if it's not.

    Good luck.

    I sorry. I got the links from another DV site that I am not a member of, just a lurker. I registered and as soon as I get approved (Mal, don't ruin it for me) I will ask the poster what the deal is.

    OK, according to the Spaniard that supplied these files, some are in Spanish and some in English. His command of English is not very good, but what I get from him (I speak Spanish natively) is that if you know how to work with XML it is easy to fix them. Unfortunately, he couldn't detail exactly what needs to be done. I am deleting them unused just because I don't want to risk corupting my existing themes or any I might download in the future. Sorry if I caused anyone any trouble by providing the links without first testing them myself. I will be more careful in the future. Please don't ban me.

    No trouble as far as I'm concerned. Anything anyone gets from the Internet should be used carefully. It's all use at your own risk. I'm no XML expert but my wife is. I'll ask her to take a look at some of the themes to see if there's an easy, obvious fix.

    Good luck.

    From what I gathered from the Spaniard, simply editing the XML files that are included with each theme will convert them to English. I don't know if this can be done in a simple text editor or if you need a dedicated XML editor. Maybe your wife knows?

    Maybe I can offer some help here.
    My son knows how to edit XML. It is an open standard, but any software supplier can determine, which elements they choose. And as I have some basic knowledge of the Spanish language, maybe we can come up with a solution for all of us. To be continued.

    I have translated the Readme file, that comes with all 6 downloads of the themes. If someone with a better knowledge of the Spanish language could please go through it, to see wheter I came close or not?

    I am, but I've been too busy fighting with other forum members in other threads. Besides, I speak Spanish so they're not a problem for me.

    I'm a programr,
    I'm a progremmer,
    I write code!

    XML is very easy to edit. Just take a look in the file (using notepad is fine) and replace the offending spanish words with the correct english words. You don't even really need to know what the tags are for to convert it...but it's always cool to find out what they do anyway!

    (Doh, didn't see Pezman's response before I posted! I started a reply but then got sidetracked!)

    It's easy enough to fix. Follow the instructions in some of the above posts to open the .thm file, pull out default.xml and then do a find and replace for any spanish. (The xml file is in english, the labels for the menus,titles, and buttons are in spanish.)

    Here are the ones that I have seen so far. I also linked to the "back to school" theme that I fixed.

    Titulo Menu -> Title Menu
    Escena -> Scene
    Ver Pelicula -> Watch Movie

    Thanks for those translations. Even though the editing is simple, without translations it's difficult to know what to change them to. "Titulo" and "Escena" seem pretty obvious but I'd never have guessed "Ver Pelicula".

    But, in addition to that, I'm still trying to figure out why my standard DVDA themes got changed to. Unless ..., I didn't check but maybe the new set has Spanish versions of the DVD-supplied themes that simply got copied over them. I'll have to check for that. That would explain why the themes that were already there suddenly got translated to Spanish.

    [UPDATE]: Just checked. I don't see any dups in the new set that overwrote the DVDA-supplied themes. Still searching for a cause.

    BTW, in addition to translating the text in the XML files, some of the theme file names need translation. Empresa? Fraile? Grounge? Just to name a few.

    Good luck.
