So I'm going through my lovely old toys and I came to a realization.
The 50mm lens I have attached to my Twoneil adapter fits perfectly with lego gears.
Heres my first shot at the idea!

Bit stronger, looks better, and smoother
Many moons ago my mother decided that my Lego days were over, because I was 12, and she chucked it all while I was at school. I've never let her live that down! LOL, so to this day I get some sort of Lego set every Christmas. And oh yeah, you better believe it gets built.![]()
Spider Jim, please indulge us as to how long it took you to come up with the mechanics for that!!
that is amazing!
very cool idea, but how do you use it? it would be great if you could somehow use it like a real follow focus with some kind of knob
Uhh, nice. What are you hood, lcd hood and rails please?
sweet idea.. but I see that the FF knob sits in the same direction as the lens barrel... isn't a major part of the FF is to position the focus wheel perpendicular to the lens barrel to allow a more natural focusing arrangement? Or does your gear ratios make the focusing lighter?
man, thats awsome!![]()
Spider.Jm. What Lens hood do you have, and what rail system?
Jordan this is fantastic! This was actually the very first thing I thought of for building a follow-focus. Sadly, I only grew up with the regular legos and never got into the 'technic' ones with gears and all that (the positive side is that I still have thousands and thousands of lego bricks which I'm sure my future children will enjoy). It'd be cool if we could find a specific lego technic model that's available in stores everywhere that has all the pieces we'd need to build a follow-focus. Than we could create instructions and post them online for peopel to build there own.
Also- I love your rig setup! What rails are you using? I'd really like to duplicate what you've got going with the twoneil adaptor and rail system. Can you shed any light on your rig specs? Thanks!
