Default HV20 Letus Mini - My 6 year old music video

2nd time playing with the Letus Mini and the Canon HV20. My 6 year old is always willing to shoot so I used him again. Took him to the park at around 11am and shot for 20 minutes . For lens, used a Canon EF 135 lens and set the aperture at 2.5. Pre-recorded him singing and was playing it back for him using my iphone during the shoot. I'm getting a stabilizer today so my next family video should get my little setup flying around.

hey silosar - i'm just about sold on ordering the mini. with the great videos i've been seeing i don't think i'll be investigating much longer.

question - how do you download videos your can play on vimeo. i seem to be bandwidth handicapped here at work. i think a lot of other users or chewing up bandwidth from streaming audio and video. every time i go to look at someones video link to a vimeo that is posted here in the forum, all i get is a few seconds and than stops and a little later a few more seconds. this is no way to enjoy videos.

what i did see of your 6 year old was great. i need to show it to my 3 year old grand daughter.

    Hey BlueGrass,
I am having a blast with the Mini. It's magical and has empowered me to do with video what I'm doing with my still shots of my kid.

So as far as Vimeo, Once you play it and it stops and gets choppy, pause it for a while and let it download first. You will see the bar fill up. Once it's all streamed and in your local machine, then play it. You will enjoy it more that way.

Thanks for your comment. It's all fun! I think I found a new hobby.

Silosr Looks Great!! , I'm pretty Much sold on getting the mini also , God willing i can get it soon and start producing the quality pictures you are creating.

Whats the song / artist on your Video with your Kid dressed in the Army gear ? Thats perfect footage with an infectious song i think i've played it like 5 times.

silosr - i noticed you mention using a canon ef 135 lens. since i liked your results a lot i thought i might purchase one but i was overwelmed by the cost of $900. I guess you were a serious photo shooter before getting the camcorder. did you purchase the rod setup from letus too. it says you don't need it for the mini but i think it may be the way to go.

I think it is a vimeo issue bluegrass. Sometimes it is fast and videos download quickly and other times it is very slow like you described. I have a fast internet connection.

    Hi BlueGrass,

I bought a different rod support from Cavision from b&h. - and yes, the plastic thread of the hv20 just doesn't look like it's gonna survive with the extra weight. It works great and was cheaper. I do a lot of hockey photography and since lighting is so bad, I use a lot of fast Canon EF lenses. 24L 1.4, 50L 1.2, 85L 1.2, 135L 2.0, 200L 1.8, etc.. So buying the Letus for Canon EF was obvious for me. If you are looking for a cheaper lens but works amazing, I would recommend the 85 1.8. It is amazingly sharp and would be a good portrait/interview lens. If you are not committed to EF lenses yet, then try the nikons and canon fd with manual aperture controls. The lenses are generally cheaper and you don't have the hassle of lugging a dslr just to change apertures.

Just added some other scenes to the same video. Also, took ou the Magic bullet look and just used color correction from FCP.
