Hi there. Today I was bored and shot this out behind my house.
I have the Hv30 with a generic brand wideangle on it.
I used a dolly I made out of skateboard wheels and some slats of wood.

yo dude that was pretty sick... how'd you build the dolly? I'm going to build mine pretty soon... got any blueprints/pictures?
I have a 2x2 platform with 4 skateboard wheels on it, it runs on two 8 foot pieces of finished wood. It's not that great. I did it quickly because I wanted a dolly but I'm going to mod it to fit on a ladder like the indiesnap ones. Search for the indie snap ladder dolly and make it like that...it's ideal.
VERY COOL LOOKING VIDEO. I wish my backyard look like that!! Good job.
Wow! That's some really nice dolly work for what's basically a modified skateboard! Beautiful.
Nice work ! I like the zoom pulls along with the smooth movement.
I'm in the process of building a portable dolly, do you need 2 people to set yours up ?
Mark
Great work!!!!!!!!! Love the angles!
Sick! Whereabouts in Canada are you?

Slick shots man. Can you tell what mode you shot that footage in? Thanks.

I like the vertical distortion in the trees created by the wide angle.... don't like the weird square shaped lens flare..also caused by the wide angle i am guessing?
High above this little fake world with its mercury lamps and electric suns, high in the sky burns a real sun over real life.
awww man.. good thing i found out about this.. so this is the square shaped opening around the auto lens cap? I thought that that shape was being reflected off of the inside of the screw on lens.. since he said it was a cheap one I assumed it wasn't a coated lens.. and would therefore reflect the lens opening

thats sweet, could you post a pic of how you set that up?
I don't need 2 people to set up/use my dolly.
I'm near toronto (Waterdown)
I don't have any pictures of my stuff setup but will take a picture next time.
I shot 60i, Av mode at 8.0, I then did some CC to match clips and did one or two speed changes.
I just built a cable cam today, tested it out, worked alright...made adjustments...hopefully will test more tomorrow.
I am thinking of building a dolly, and I would like to ask two things:
1. What surface did the dolly run on? Tracks?
2. Would you please post some pics of your dolly?
Great footage, great scenery....and nicely executed moves. Are you planning on shooting any scripted work?

Something out of National Geographic! Very impressive! Yes, and please do post photos of your rig setup!
In winter I run it along two snowboard decks (for a short track)1. What surface did the dolly run on? Tracks?
2. Would you please post some pics of your dolly?
in summer I run it along two strips of finishing board.
I'm going to mod it to run on a ladder though...leaves get in the way too much.
I'm not the greatest writer so I don't know...But I shoot alot of action sports (snowboarding, biking) . and I'm planning on shooting a string quartet playing in those woods with those camera moves as a promo for playing at weddings (for the quartet).Great footage, great scenery....and nicely executed moves. Are you planning on shooting any scripted work?
my dolly is really just a skateboard on smooth pieces of wood....not much else to it I'm afraid....you can get the same quality if you actually used a skateboard, just used new wheels, fresh bearings, and a smooth track for it.
I'll post pics when I mod it.
one word: "Amazing" im gonna run along and build my own dolly now
Anyone here make a ladder dolly? It seems like the best route to making one...
I'll let you know when I mod mine to fit a ladder.
the indie snap one works amazing in footage i've seen of it in action.
That's lovely, David.
Beautiful, fluid, flowing rhythm.
Not sure about the music however. Too sentimental for my taste. I have nothing against angelic voices as such, but they tend to make everything immaterial...
And, after all, that could be precisely what you wanted
You said you were bored before you shot this sequence, but are you sure you weren't just getting ready for it? :-)
Productive boredom!
Congratulations.
Laurent
PS: I'm in the forest business too :-) See my video-landscapes thread.
