Default Vintage JVC and National Cameras

    Hey everyone,

my mate was looking through his deceased grandmas garage and found a couple of old cameras so i thought i'd post them here and see if anyone knew anything about them - i googled them but wasn't too helpful, i also have the manuals for them too...

i'll post the pics of them in a couple of minutes.

Well, I know VHSC is a compact version of VHS.

Other than that I can't help you. I think they were using CCD by that point in history...BUT... if the cameras use tubes and not CCDs don't point them at the sun or anything really bright like that since it can damage the imaging tube. You'll get permanent burn in.

These cameras might be good if you want to get a damaged "retro" video effect without having to do any processing. Getting really "analog looking" damage with digital filters is tricky.

Other than that I can't think of any practical use for them other than "museum piece"

Wow! They look in excellent condition. Love seeing old relic technology preserved like that.

hey thanks, yeh i read somewhere in the manuals about not pointing it at the sun because of the tubes or something, i did some more manual browsing and found the specs, they're pretty much the same for both; Pickup-tube - 1/2" high band static magnetic saticon single tube, Scanning system - 25 frames 625 lines 2:1, video output - 1Vp-p 75ohms, PAL type.

i don't have the battery charger for them but i tried hooking up my 12v power pack (it says the power requirement was 12v) but it didn't work

anyone know if i have any chance of salvaging the lenses for any type use??

I would hazard a guess that the lens would be very poor optically due to the resolution it delivers (as it wouldnt have needed to be high quality).
