Default Post Pictures of Your Editing Room/Suite

Just a suggestion, but I think we could all get inspiration and ideas if we were to share pictures of our editing set-ups, whether it be a closet, bedroom, laptop, pro-set up or whatever... were always showing off our cameras, so why not our editing arrangements too.

Let me know what you think...

Mark, my jaw just hit the floor, that is a beautiful setup. Heres mine:

Lol, when i edit, of course, i have it hooked up to monitors and stuff (ill post a pic of that tommorow), but for right now this is what ive got. Im actually surprised at how many clients i get, even with this minimalist setup. Also, ill soon be upgrading to a hackintosh, i just need to finish saving my money (im broke!).lol.

Bevis... er I mean Cyclewriter, my suggestion and following post was not designed to invoke envy, or to show off.. it's simply a way for all of us to see the different methods and hardware we use in our craft/hobby... by the way do you need teepee for your bung hole, I might have some extra for you.., thanks for looking.

Eugenia, like your 28" Monitor, how doy you like the Edius software/hardware combo, if that is what you are using. I was tempted to purchase the NX package to outfit another computer for HD, but I heard he system cand be real buggy, your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Mark Carey

I am using Vegas as my main editor. I have others installed too. I tried Edius yesterday and while the editor was just "ok" for me, their installer broke my PC. I got really angry on this as it almost blew up my XP installation. I detailed what happened here: http://eugenia.gnomefiles.org/2008/0...-sucks-part-9/

Eugenia, wow what a "Cluster F***", sorry to read about your troubles, kinda reinforces what I have read about their stuff, I think I'll stick with Matrox, as it works perfectly with the Adobe CS suite.

My editing area is in disarray at the moment (need to rebuild the machine, it decided to quit booting a few months ago and I haven't gotten around to repairing it yet) I'll post up some photos when it's done.

I don't need to post a photo of mine. It's just an ugly black box on my desk stuffed with RAM and Hard Drives.

Mark, you know I was just funning with ya! Here's a pic of my "editing suite." It's a bit messy right now, and you can't tell that it is also inside my bedroom, but it gets the job done.

Mine is shoved into a basement corner. The foam isn't by any means acoustical, but it does get rid of the echo. And besides, it looks kinda cool! Oh, and in the same way that an event shooter's best friends are a good comfortable pair of shoes, nothing makes editing an easier experience than a good ergonomic chair.

Cyclewriter... I was just funnin with you too.. Like your set-up, do you do 5 ch. suround sound mixes?, just noticed the speakers... Cornreaper, nice mix/edit station, is that Audition on the screen... if it is, it's a great program..

Thanks! Yep, that's Audition. I don't do a lot of sound editing, but it's amazing how powerful this program can be when you need it.

Sweet looking set up and sound monitors, how much did you pay for that foam?

I just started messing with 5.1 audio tracks. Fun stuff, but the speaker system is more for the stuff on the top left shelf. All work and no play, you know.

And on the subject of ergonomic chairs, I have this one that I can no longer use due to neck and back issues. If anyone in the L.A. area is interested in parting with $75, it's all yours (you pickup).

Heh, it's just packaging foam I scooped from work, so it was free! It really has no acoustic value, as it's nowhere near dense enough. But on a serious note, it's also extremely flammable....this stuff can be very dangerous. You might remember the Station Nightclub Fire in 2003, well the cheapskate owners lined the walls and ceiling with similar foam and are responsible for a hundred deaths. I probably shouldn't even be using it on this small of a scale next to a potential spark hazard....
