I want to support the community. Attended this NELA Art film fest (North East Los Angeles Art). It's $15 per ticket pre-ordered through Paypal.

The fest is hosted in a somewhat dump down area and theatre in Highland Park, CA. Ticket and website says film start at 7pm. I arrived at 6:30pm together with other movie watchers. NELA staff arrived around 6:50pm. We wait till 7:15pm to get in. It's quite empty with only about less than 20 people. Tickets is only $10 at location.

More and more people show up around 8pm. Those arrived at 8pm obviously knows each other in the theatre. Many of us have been waiting 1.5 hour already sitting in with nothing to do. I found out, those arrived around 8pm are mostly actors and directors involved in the films. They know film showing time is after 8. When I confronted the NELA staff, they said 7pm is ticketing. And with an attitude that they don't care.

Several short films are great. I enjoyed them. At the end, some of the actors and directors went up to stage and talked about the experience and answered questions from the audience. Only 1 film was done by RED. All others are 5D Mark 3.

One question for the directors was what project next. Almost all of them said they don't have anything in sight.

Latest fiasco: they keep stating that: "suspicious activity detected on your account" on gmail. Mainly due to me using various computers with various IP addresses to log into gmail.
No problem, as it just takes an SMS sent to my Chinese cell phone to verify I am the account holder....oh, wait, now today it states: "This phone number has already been used too many times for verification. "

Here's the story.

My Zoom H4n's headphone jack broke months ago during production for my Christmas short Two Halves. Lack of monitoring being a deal breaker, I immediately sent it to the repair center and they received it beginning of February. Now, they told me it would take 5-6 weeks, which is a long ass time, but it's so far been 13 weeks and I have received nothing. Three weeks ago I grew concerned and called to check in and was told they still did not start the repair (replacing a $4 component mind you) but would "hurry up."

Fast forward to today and their repair center is notoriously hard to reach, often telling they are "busy" and "unavailable" over a recorded message. In the meantime I've spent 80 dollars on rental fees to hold me over on production for my film Second Chance and will still have to pay the stupid $50 service fee plus shipping to and from New York. Their repair screw up has delayed production of my film by a week, and probably means I will miss my release deadline. Granted, I should've accounted for this if my deadline were mission critical and purchased a second Zoom H4n (or a better product), but allow me to vent.

Mid-low end brands like Samson have really lost their gold for me. For the last couple of days I have been trying to sync my wife's iphone calendar with my Galaxy, and the computer (microsoft outlook 2007). It's just a friggin disaster! I gave up and told the wife we're switching to Google calendar because it's so much easier. It took me all 15 minutes to sync all the calenders under google. Now anything the wife places on her iphone calender shows up on my galaxy calender as well as google calender on the computer.

I started thinking about all this again today and figured that maybe office 2007 was simply too old so I decided to take office 2013 for a test ride to see if it would sync up.

What a FUCKING mistake that was! Not only did I fail to sync things up but office 2013 looks about as inviting as Windows 8 does. It looks like a frigging 8 year old designed the ui!. Picture Microsoft office 2007 with all the color stripped away from it... The blocky look of the windows 8 opening screen... and there you have office 2013. What a waste of time.

Needless to say... we're sticking with the easily managed google system!
