Is there any way to prevent the hand strap padding from moving completely forward? Its very annoying!
I usually adjust the strap for the padding to fit perfectly around my hand, but after a little use the padding slides forward making the strap loose again :hv20-smilie51:
Any ideas? Or am I doing something wrong?

It is annoying! The poor neck strap does not help.
I suggest you stick the padding to the back strap once you have adjusted it for comfort.
I have thought of buying a pistol grip to screw into the tripod mount, this would give a better support to the camera as well.
My only gripe about the HV-20 is its small size and its lightness. In the old days!!! cameras that aspired to this quality were massive beasts that would sit easily on a shoulder. You have an amazing piece of kit - pity about the strap!

No you are not doing anything wrong, it does it to everyone. I have thought of having my wife sew it in place for me. It is anoying.

Yes sewing could work, thanks.

I have the same gripe! My hands are a little large and my fingers are a little long, so having the stupid strap move around gets annoying! I've just learned to deal with it, though. This camera's too good in every other aspect to complain. :P

There would be a great market for a proper hand- and neckstrap though.........Bit thicker and one that stays put!

I bought this grip and it is nice. Gives me a different hold on the camera and do not have to use the strap. Seems to allow for some different positions as well. I will take a picture with it attached when I get a chance.

Thanks SCSZ. It looks exactly what I want. I have not seen one in the UK yet but I will keep looking.

I got it from B&H, maybe they can ship it to the UK?

Hey scsz, can you get up that picture of it attached to your HV20 soon? Maybe one of you holding onto it, too?
A Thousand Thanks!

Holding the camera. I find that the angle position of the grip works best for me. I use my right hand to turn the recording on/off and to adjust the zoom. By using the grip I seems to be able to keep it more stable as well.

Thanks!
We have a VERY similar setup, heh. I have the ATR25 and the Fotodiox hood on mine, too! Very cool!

I can tell you my way to keep the handgrip tight. I noticed it gets looser over time, so to make the velcro hold stronger I use a wire brush on both sides (the soft furry side and the wiry side). Do this on shoulder bags with velcro fasteners as well. Hope that helps. Another method I found that works: remove the strap completely and replace it with a long band of tight elastic, weave it several times through the metal loops and tie a knot with the loose ends - the elastic pulls my hand close and keeps it snug to the body of the camera.

My chance to reopen this exciting thread!
The answer - "impact adhesive" - a drop spread along the strap, where it slides into the cover, has solved that problem. the cover is definitely stuck. I mean WOW!
Now for the wire brush.
My apologies to all who thought they were going to read something interesting.
Did you know that I can't find a supplier of a pistol grip in the UK - apparently they have gone out of fashion.

I bought an op tech wrist strap from here (http://www.loobylins.co.uk/index.asp). Do you mean that glove-like thingy ? They have those. I was going to buy my strap from B&H but the shipping was ridiculous, I doubt I'll buy anything from them ever !! I got it for half the price from UK. The service is fantastic and I felt like I'd made a friend, Linda is a riot:hv20-smilie87:

Which strap is that? I have been looking on their website and found a whole page of Op Tech straps but didn't see a specific wrist strap suitable for the
HV20. Could you post a picture of the strap on your cam because I think a LOT of people are interested in a better strap. Tnx. in advance.......:hv20-smilie03:

Barnowl I bought the strap one, I didn't fancy a narrow band round my wrist as in the common ones on sale here. Its mainly added security from dropping (or as someone else reported.....being snatched ).The glove-like one might be better for someone who does a lot of filming perhaps ?130

[QUOTE=scsz;7957]I bought this grip and it is nice.
How is the handle for stability? I'm using a monopod two handed and might want to
migrate smaller.

I actually put two staples through the inner strap to prevent it from sliding. Works as a charm and can easily be undone!

Staple did the job for me 2!
