A little more footage using a DIY 35mm adapter. Camera settings are detailed on the clip. It's 38Mb, standard DV resolution (PAL)

Music by Jonathan King, "Who's been polishing the sun".

Here (http://hv20.info/yopu/kitchen.mpg) it is. No tripod, so still a little shaky, but not too bad.

I hear music but no picture comes out.

Very nice footage! What are you using between the camera and focusing screen? I see no color aberrations at all! I can't wait to finish my adapter. What lens are you using?

Cute little guy...I have two boys myself...they're awesome.

Great footage! I love the depth of view using your adapter and lens. I have to get one of those as well. I would like to see some footage with a tripod it would keep the focus constant if it were on one. Cute boy, I have one too. A lot of fun!

@Ian-T, I have no idea why, seeing as others don't have a problem. What media player are you using.

@tkmslee, the only thing between camera and focussing screen is a Lumix UV filter, bought second hand from eBay. The lens is also a 2nd hand one, again from eBay; it's a Nikon Nikkor 50mm 1:2 one. As for the lack of chromatic aberration, well, I don't know why. All I can say is I took a long time over assembling everything. By nature I am impatient, but I wanted to setmy sons
a good example!

@jaelupo, although I have a tripod, I have no support for the adapter. As soon as I can improvise a support mechanism I'll take some steady footage.

I'm itching to get some outdoor footage, but it's been raining.

Ok...I got it on the second try (just installed XP 64bit and everything was kooky...now I'm back on 32 bit and am able to see video).

That video looks very good. Is this a static adapter you are using?

One thing...I do see something like spots (maybe on the glass) in the upper left part of the screen. Other than that it displays good shallow DOF.

I would like to see a picture of your adapter. Upload a still picture when you get a chance. Thanks.

Sorry about the rain in England, it is over 100 degrees in Los Angeles right now. Rain sound good!

Please post specs/pix on the adapter you used.

I'm bowled over by the quality of this footage!

It is not a static adapter. The spots you see are because I haven't cleaned the lens/focussing screen properly yet. I've tried, but I just seem to move the spots around!

OK, here is a zip archive of pictures (http://hv20.info/yopu/Adapter.zip). If you have any specific photo requests, let me know and I'll try to take one. (Time it tight today - I have to cook Sunday lunch).

Shall I bring red or white?

I'm teetotal. Bring either and you're out!

I have this plan... when my boys are older, we shall all be introduced to alcohol together.

Silly paternal dream.

--------------------

Specs of the adapter... Well it's a DIY one, based on Nikon extension tubes.

I use one set of Nikon extension tubes, diameter 58mm, internal thread 54.5mm. The focussing screen is a Nikon EE-S. ground glass holder and motor were purchased from www.jetsetmodels.info and the lens is a Nikon Nikkor 50mm f1.2. I used a 43mm-58mm step up ring to attach the adapter to the HV20.

I hope that answers the spec. question, if not, ask away!

Right, off to turn the potatoes and listen to "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue".

Can you please post a link to the schematics/how-to?

Thank you

This (http://www.jetsetmodels.info/news.htm) is where I got the bulk of my information from; and I had a fair bit of help from ForwardLooker who clarified some points for me and told me where to buy some of the electronics.

Also, have a look at this thread (http://hv20.com/showthread.php?t=489).
