I've read many times around here and on dvinfo that Windows Media Player should be able to play m2t files with out a problem. Every time I try to view one I get an error from media player indicating it cant play it. I'm running Win XP SP2 with media player 11. come to think of it, i exported a mpeg out of elements and media player wouldn't play it. what the heck am I missing?

I never knew WM to play .m2t files. I use the free VLC player.

Have you tried renaming the extension to mpg?

bluegrass: just tried it and get the same error, doesn't recognise the codec used . Perhaps I read wrong. VLC does work perfectly and deinterlaces on the fly really well.

You need a plugin like NVIDIA Pure Video decoder to make WMP play transport streams. If make a program stream from the transport stream WMP should be able to play it, though.
