A lot of HV20 users have noticed that HV20 will increase electronic gain in low light environment. The good thing is you get your video bright enough though the light is very dim, however, the biggest drawback is the background noise pixels, it makes the whole video looks bad. And that is why a lot pros here were talking about how to lock the gain.
I made several small mini lights (customized from min pod light), the users can lock their HV20's exposure with the mini light, which means you can use f1.8 aperture without any electronic gain, and it will keep your video clean.
The theory is my mini light provides exact amount light for HV20, so that you can get several big apertures without gains when you lock the exposure. I made a video to show how to use the light, hope it will help you guys. http://tw.youtube.com/watch?v=QDci5eQuldU
My cost to make the light is about $8.00, I would like to sell the mini light (include 2 AAA batteries) for $10 + shipping ( I think should be around $5.00).
