What a dissapointment! I had my HV 20 importing last week, and now iMovie does not recognise the camera. (I only see "Built-in iSight" when clicking on the movie camera lower left screen.)
I have bough a new cable, restarted, unlpuged computer for a few minutes (no batterie too), changed tapes, run Cocktail, stopped fast user swtching. These are all things I read about possible conflicts.
Any ideas?

Try it on another computer to see if the camera or the computer is the problem.

Thanks for the tip. It looks like there is a problem with the firewire port on the HV 20. I tried it on another computer and it still is not recognised. I have been instructed to send it to Canon here in Switzerland. Quite depressing to think my new camera will be worked on in a shop by people whom I have no idea of their expertise...

I would be curious to hear from any one else who may have had this problem.
By the way, a quick way to see if your camera is getting a firewire connection to your computer is to use system profiler and click on firewire. You should see a device there.

Someone else had a similar problem a few weeks ago. Use the search tool in the forums to find similar keywords.
