All of a sudden I have to rethink this planned HV20 purchase.

Anyone have any comments on comparisons/differences/etc?

this model is one I am considering: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/539291-REG/Canon_2708B001_VIXIA_HF_100_AVCHD_Flash.html

Why not go for the HF-10? The HF-100 comes with no built-in storage, the HF-10 with 16gb. The price difference between the two models (about $200) is roughly equal to buying 16gb SDHC memory, plus the HF-10 is black...

According to this review:

http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Canon-Vixia-HF10-Camcorder-Review-34711.htm

HF10 isn't as good as the HV30. Image quality reported as quite similar although the wall picture on this page http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Canon-Vixia-HF10-Camcorder-Review-34711/Performance.htm doesn't look as clear to me, slight colour cast and less sharp.

Also from that review:

1. Zoom toggle not as good quality

2. 1 hour 23 mins battery life

3. No Zebra Function (HV30 has one)

4. No Peaking Function (HV30 has one)

5. No control dial like HV30

6. Panning preformance not always as good as Hv30

To me, the HV30 is still the better camera based on that review.

The really interesting wildcard in the solid state market is the new JVC HD6 - still awaiting testing. This is 3CCD, camcorder that can record 1080 / 60P at 25Mbs!!!! It also uses the MPEG-2 TS compression standard and records to hard drive. Its stated to have fantastic image stabilisation.

A test is following shortly apparently.

I had been waiting for camcorderinfo to do their review on the HF10. Looks like it just came out the day before yesterday.

I really wish camcorderinfo would post some real-world video samples instead of test chart shots... test charts only tell part of the story IMO.
