I am starting to think I can make this camera create the images I really want. I stuck the HV20 out the window while driving down the main street of my little town. I put in a Nattress plug in and a vignette. I think I finally got the 24p figured out as well. What do you think?

I thought I could play anything here, but alas, this clip won't play.
Also, from what I CAN tell, it seems to be 29.970fps, so not sure you did get it to be 24p.

Mal
do you have anything 24p so I can compare? Thanks.

If you play the clip in QuickTime (which doesn't here), check the MOVIE PROPERTIES; if it says 29.970 fps, it's not 24p.

I don't have proper 24p, no. But check this forum, there's some 24p uploaded I believe.

MPlayer on windows cannot play it, this codec is not included in MPlayer core.

I think this clip is encoded using the "tkmslee" codec! :)

Okay everyone. I reencoded it, it's smaller and it also works on my slow PC. Try the link above agin.

Now, work it does!

Looking good although movie still shows 29.970 fps.

Not a particular fan of the vignetting effect --> I must admit that it does look good & add to the feel here.
What's the setting of the vignette here? Is that a simple overlay; plug-in, or what?

You know you can get a citation for shooting video while driving... :hv20-smilie03: J/K
Good job. How'd you process it? Also a suggestion for next time: set and then lock your exposure so everytime a dark or light colored car goes by you don't get the exposure changing.

How do you lock exposure again? You have to have a minisd card in to help if I remember correcty.

I love the look you're achieved. Too bad nattress doesn't work on pc.

I really liked it - was it the nattress plugin that gave it that film look?

I think the camera did more for the "look" than anything. I kept it on cine mode, which I like because it is softer and the contrast is flatter. The plug in deepened the colors and blacks a bit.

If you push the little button that has arrow toggles while recording, you can arrow down to where you can lock the exposure. I didn't lock it in this clip and you can tell. Whenever a car passes by the camera adjusts its exposure for the car. Then after it has passed it has to readjust for the background.

So tkmslee, how DID you do the vignetting effect in this clip?

tkmslee

It's a vignetting effect in a Nattress plug in. It was tweaked to push it toward the corners. You can also make one in photoshop by saving it as a png so it has a transparent background. Pretty easy. I could even post one if you want.

Nice Tkmslee. I have been playing with Cine and 24P to decide what to use next week in Alaska. I like the look. Kind of soft look

I'd appreciate if you could post one; that would be neat.

It plays just fine with the VLAN player.

I like the color and all of that, but the motion looks super choppy to me. What framerate did you use?

BTW, is this up on 395?

Tom,

Are you referring to the street name? If so, it's on main street in Lehi. I used the 24p setting then used JES to deinterlace and pulldown.

I liked the look of that clip. I wish the rearview mirror was not in the way but I like the color and style of that clip. Please do a longer one next time. Very nice!
