When I'm previewing video from my HV20 on IMOVIE HD, so I can select the scenes I want to download before importing, I haven't been able to get sound out from my computer speakers so I have to use the camera speakers (which has a delay with the computer's monitor). I've tried to check and uncheck every single option on my preferences, both on IMovie and my camera and nothing seems to work. Any idea on how to fix this problem? Your help will be greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I get the same result. No sound during previewing or capturing. Sound plays fine once it's captured. I guess it's limitation of current imovie hd

Both IMovie and FCP do not output sound during preview capture.

Thanks for clarifying! What software should I use if I want sound while previewing if any?

can you plug in a headphone into the headset jack on the camcorder? or listen to the built in speaker on the hv20?

Yes, that's what I've been doing (using both headphones and camera speaker). The drawback is that there's a delay between the camera and what's showing on my Mac screen. Thanks for taking the time to answer, at least now I know there's nothing wrong with my Mac.
