Here's a chance to buy a pair (yes I said a pair) of AKG 567 lapel mics that run on phantom power. They retailed for $279 apiece 10-15 yrs ago. They have a very natural 20-20k response with only a slight presence rise unlike a lot of lapel mics. 72db s/n and 10-15mv output. Omni mics. They record piano very well. No clips for mic heads or clips for XLR adapters. You can thread a very small screw into mic head to attach to bracket, etc. I'll take $75 shipped to your locale in the USA. This is only $37.50 for a good quality phantom lapel mic. Last time I used them was to record piano a few yrs ago.Just don't do enough interview work to justify keeping them.

Do these mics have a battery compartment in the XLR connector, or do they u=only use phantom power?

What is the size of the capsule?

There is no provision for battery power-only phantom power. The size of the barrel is aprox. 3" by .75". The actual number is AKG C567E. Here's the link at akg's site: http://www.akg.com/mediendatenbank2/psfile/datei/94/C_567_E1_C415962062dc26.gif
It pulls up a gif image with full specs. The picture shows a different barrel than mine. I believe the picture shows an adpater for the mic to convert it to phantom power but my barrels are a smooth shorter version with XLR pins on one end and mic cable coming out the other.
