I really don't like the cinema mode of the HV20. I mean it's ok, but I'd rather shoot in TV mode and just add effects in post. I think the cinema mode sucks out too much of the color. What you think?

For me, some combination of CineMode and pumped up contrast and colordepth produces the best image from the HV20 (you can still apply the custom settings in CindeMode). Of course if you prefer you can add effects in the computer, but it's much harder to recover blown highlights than it is to start with a flatter image (a la CineMode) and then push your curves in the computer. BUT since you can't control the shutter speed in CineMode I haven't been using it. So I've been shooting Tv mode, contrast/brightness -1, colordepth 0 or +1 and try to watch my highlights when shooting.

Do you have any good recipes you can throw my way.. As in manual adjustments within TV mode or color settings to combine with Cinema mode. I guess I'd like to get something close to the "elusive" film look. I know that rainy day clip out there looks really great, but I guess the added yellow/ gamma in post helped that a lot (I think that was shot in tv mode too). So many different combinations I could do and I know it's a matter of taste, but I'd love to see what settings work best for you and try them out for myself, then maybe change em a bit to my likings. Thanks though! =)
