So I just bought an HV20 to be my B Camera on a Doc. My A Camera is an HVX200. I was wondering if anyone could direct me to info on importing the HDV24 footage and reencoding it into DVCProHD footage so I can edit it with the HVX Footage. I'm shooting the HVX at 720PN so I also need to shrink the HV20 Footage to 720. I'll be using FCP Studio 2.
Please bear in mind that this will also be the first time I've ever imported HDV footage. I think the HVX spoiled me. Thanks for your help.

You could do it in compressor after you capture it via firewire. Which will take a very long time.

Or you could buy a kona card ( i use a kona LH) and a hdv to sdi adapter from http://www.convergent-design.com/. You would then go hdv to adapter out adapter sdi to sdi in on the kona card. The kona will then capture it in DVCProHD.

I just ran some tests on pal 25p hdv to dvcpro hd. I used compressor 3 on a mac book pro. My firewire captured hdv file was 195.8 mb it took less than 2 min in compressor 3.

The dvcpro came out to 846.7 mb. I also did a pro res HD one it was 749.2 mb and took less than 2 min. To my naked eye the footage all appears as the original. I did not look at it with any scopes.
