Got one from Neil himself. :) Here's some footage from the Twoneil Deluxe HD 35mm DIY Adapter:

I'll still be happy to exchange services with anyone willing to give up some gear for a score. (within reason)
******
(short films anywhere from 5-15 minutes in length)
Hey guys! I have a HV20, and I'm looking to exchange my music scoring services for a 35 mm adapter for the HV20. I know it maybe a long shot, but you never know who needs some 'upliftingly dark' music for their films, videos, website, etc.
I've done a little bit of research on the adapters and have a general idea what's good and bad. I've seen some great DYI 35s and some utterly awful footage of DYIs. I would like to see some clips from the adapter if possible.
I'm in LA, but the joy of the world wide interweb, I could do work virtually anywhere.
I'm looking to make my own films with the HV20, and would like to up the ante on my end.
My music and some clips can be found here if anyone is interested.

OK... Anyone wanting to sell their HV20 DYI Adapter? :)
Or... perhaps any referrals to anyone who makes them? I'm just Looking to open the box and screw it on my HV20 and hit record.
Also, I noticed a lot of videos posted here with some of your video work at vimeo.. If anyone needs orchestral (piano/string) music for the background music, I'm all for it. Just be sure to include my name in the credits. (of course not for commercial use)
Cheers!!

holy crap! i love you Justin... (in the manliest way possible)
heh, let me reedit what i mean
I Have the Redrock 35mm Adapter DIY Guide a $45 thing with unused groundglass the guide itself is in ok shape, just kinda crumpled a bit from movement
Most or all of the parts needed to build it $75
I can exchange it, most of what you need is just glue and some hole saws... and put it together yourself

Zactac,
Ha!! I appreciate the response. Now is the entire package? Lense and attachments to just screw it on the camera? Basically I'm looking for a plug and Play solution. I've heard and seen some good things with the redrock.. Do you have any specific links to its glory in action?
I'm also looking for a badarse Shure Mic too (plus cables), Lighting junk, etc, so I'm game for that kind of stuff as well. If anything, I just want to network and meet as many people as possible. I know lots of you have old junk just laying around. I'd love to say its a good trade of services so I'm game for just about anything.
Cheers!

The image didn't show up...
As for building it.. ehhh. Not really what I want to do. :) I just want to screw it in and hit record. (I'm sure a rack mount would be handy too)
Do you have an extra kit laying around? Or would you have to build one from scratch?

I've got a Letus 35 Flip Enhanced. Had it for a couple of months. It's definitely more work than "plug and play."

basically, all that is needed on the one im trying to exchange is 3-4 hours of finishing up.. all gluing and painting.... in matter of steps... im at step 8 outta 10...
you're really not gonna find a nice plug and play adapter... setting backfocus, getting lenses..
what brand of lenses are you thinking of using?

Weirdharold, I've worked with a letus35flipped with the DVX and I really loved its results. most of my last film was shot with it:

Do you have any footage with your Letus?

Zacatac, I'm looking to get that with the adapter too. Heck, I'd like to have a few options if possible. Depends on how much you willing to sell or how many minutes of music I need to write for your film. :)
I'm game for just about anything and looking to get it asap. I've got a few shorts I'm shooting in the next few weeks.

That's actually exactly what I'm looking for. Cept... I need the lense (and/or a couple of a lenses for options). But, I figured someone had one built already or perhaps someone was willing to get rid of their used rig in exchange for a small scoring session. :) My rates for higher budget films are around $150-$200 per minute of music.
Anyone Have a setup they want to get rid of?
Cheers!

I have a static set up, Nikon D screen, Canon EOS mount. It is a static adapter with just the adapter, no lenses or macros. It is just sitting around so I would sell it to you for $50.

Don't want to be a pest. (I understand you are looking for a "turnkey" kit) However, just in case you end up needing some lenses, here's a lead for you.
When recently building an adapter and looking for lenses I stumbled upon a eBay seller that is terrific!
Shutterblade (http://stores.ebay.com/ShutterbladeStore)
The prices are great, the service is incredible, and they ship at light speed.
This is the auction I won. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=350030190211&ssPageName=STRK:MERFB:IID) The product was exactly as pictured/described and I was holding this lens in my hand within 36 hours of auction close!!!
Anyway, I will be doing business with them again in the future.
Hope this helps.:hv20-smilie70:
PS I admire your scores very much and was just wondering what setup you use for music creation?

Misquamacus, Ya, i'm looking for that turnkey solution. I suppose if no one has a rig ready to roll, I suppose I'll just look into purchasing one myself. I'm sure there's a few great places to buy one here at the forum.
as for music, I use Gigastudio as my sampler and SONAR as my MIDI sequencer. Then, there's a few websites out there with libraries of sample instruments. Plus, I have a ton of custom sounds I've gathered throughout the years and recorded.
you are talented man !
Thank ya MusicJules. :hv20-smilie70: I'm glad you dig the work.

Wow- I really love it when I realize how much of a 'small world' the creative community is. Justin- I love your stuff man! Been listening and visiting your site for 4 years now. I've always been inspired by the way you compose and composite your stuff- really tasteful and elegant. Nice to see that you're in the HV20 mode now too- it really is an amazing camera. I tend to be one of those jack-of-all trades guys too- I can't settle on video, graphic design, composing, etc. I want to do do them all! The difference between me and you is that you somehow always seem to end up mastering each one of those tools in your designer's kit. ;)
Mad props my friend- good to have you here.

Hi Edgen,
I just noticed your thread and the website.
I'll send you my adapter in exchange for your wonderful creation.
Although, I do not have a project yet but I'm sure I'll have one in the future (5-15minutes in length).
So I will accept your payment in faith and I'll send you an adapter for Nikon lens.

Hopefully I'll get some good stuff from my HV20. Fun times ahead :)

I'm sure you will bro- this is a great cam right out of the box, but with the additional elements (like the 35mm), its phenomenal. I still have yet to 'accessorize' mine, but I'm drawing up the plans. Gonna start with simple things like the mic setup and steadying device and built up from there.
Hey major congrat BTW- on your skywalker ranch visit- I just read your blog about the experience. I can't even imagine that- what an honor!
Take care.

Thanks man.. That place was friggin' amazing. It was a huge dream of mine just to go there and although its a very rustic place, there's something pretty magical about it too. I'm looking forward to going back in the late summer/fall to record a few more cues.

As long as you included the proper credits and as long as it's not for commercial use.. I'm game for you using my music for free. :) Just spreadin' the love. Did you ever end up using any of the music?

Ya, I don't mind you using my music 'as long' as you put my name in your credits and if it's not commercially. But ya, school stuff is fine. Just be sure to tell your buddies where you 'scored' the music from. :)
BTW, I'm making a deal with TwoNeil himself for the DYI adapter. Wish me luck! I'm shooting my short this weekend. Let's just hope the 50 mm Nikon lens gets here in time too.
I'm still down for bartering my music out to anyone for any type of gear exchange.
