Hi,

I saw HV30 at Amazon.co.uk doesn't seems that we have to wait till 1 March like Amazon.com does...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-Definition-Camcorder-Widescreen-Multi-Angle/dp/B0012B4XFY/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1203462133&sr=8-1

I dont know. Is it really available in UK now? It just say, dispatched within 1 to 3 week from our order...

Thanks...

Dilemma in choosing HV30 or HV20. Black are sleek and sexy. HV20 are cheap...:hv20-smilie51:

Here's some stuff to help you out:

1) HV30 has a few additional features, namely the new 30 fps mode, and the latch on the top is connected now.

2) Black is more professional looking, so if you need to look professional, black is the way to go.

3) The HV20, being an older model, is much cheaper (but great quality). If you buy the HV20, you can have an additional nearly $400 to spend on other things, like a great mic, lens, tripod, etc.

4) The HV30 is pretty darn similar to the HV20 if you strip away the couple additional features

5) Do you have the money to spend on a nicety?

and, finally,

6) 30 fps is wonderful for online video such as YouTube (or so they say), so if that is your main forté, consider whether it's worth the extra $350 to $400 (US).

I hope this helps you decide. Either way, if you spend a little longer thinking about it, maybe the HV20 will come down in price. But be careful! Don't get caught where many of the Panasonic GS400 lovers got stuck: if ya didn't buy it in time, you found yourself searching for used ones on eBay for more than they were sold new!

Keep a close eye on Canon and the current stock of HV20's if you're planning to wait for price drops.

And,
- better zoom control button
- bigger battery capacity
- better lcd screen
- the Panny GS400 didn't have a nearly equivalent replacement; the HV20 does.
Also, note amazon.co.uk's price difference between the HF10 and HV30 - £949.99 and £699.99 respectively. I think we can expect competitive HV30 prices pretty quickly following HV20's running out. If you can follow my oblique logic.

- bigger battery capacity

Actually, following Taky's recommendation (http://www.hv20.com/showthread.php?t=4315) I'm now running the 2400mAh batteries in my HV20 with no problems so far; so it seems that item is a bit of marketing sleight-of-hand ... :hv20-smilie94:

I would love to hear some real world experience of the HV30's new zoom button and LCD screen. (once some folks actually have a HV30 :D )

I don't think I will be selling my current HV20, but I may buy a HV30 once the prices come down a little.

As far as looking professional? I'm not sure the black body actually looks any more professional. Sometime black can look cheaper than the nice silver color of the HV20.

I just finished my 1st shoot with the HV20 today, and I did not have one comment or question about the HV20. I was waiting for something negative like, "you're shooting with that little thing?" or "Hey, that looks like my camera." :D Maybe helps rolling in with a couple of big pelican cases full of gear, setting lights and getting right into "director" mode.

The small nature of the HV20 let me grab some quick shots without attracting much attention, catching folks unaware of my presence.

I picked up (4) of the Sterling 1700mAh batteries, thinking they were a little better deal than the 2400mAh and the profile allows for use of the view finder (which i doubt I will use very often).

I have popped the question to dabs.com in th UK, they have not given a date of release for the HV30...but have more HV20s coming in soon. HV30 v HV20 debate on other threads I know, but GBP139.00 difference between the two at the moment on Dabs....nail biting stuff!! Oh gawd, probably get flamed for this but is the LCD REALLY that bad on the HV20? Just wondered as I want to pop the HV20 on the end of a handheld jib and want to use the LCD for basic framing purposes only. If the HV30 is not released for a while I may grab a "20" at the cheaper price if there will be a release delay.:hv20-smilie44:
