I'll just find a new forum that will allow me to ask basic questions without having to worry about mods censoring me and making it more difficult.

I assume that you are making referrence to this forum. I doubt that you would find moderators on any forums more sensitive and polite to posters than on this forum. If not, I'm sure Mal would like to hear about it.

Here's the thing. I searched the forum and didn't find the answer to a question I had, so I posted it in a very polite manner. Before anyone could answer, Taky locked it up and referred me to an old thread that I had already read. I'm sorry, but that really makes it seem like I need to find a different place to get the advice I'm seeking.

Hey boss....it's nothing against you. Imagine going on a forum where the same question is asked and answered over and over again....things would get out of control quickly. What happened was Taky moved you to an area where you can find the right answer…or the same individuals could more properly answer you. In the future if others have the same problem they can come to one location to find the answer (instead of searching and searching and getting more confused).

Boss,
I think you are a bit overly sensitive here. This board is one of the most polite and helpful I know. Re-reading your question I can see that you indeed added a new aspect to the whole microphone discussion, only it came after you wanted to know all the basics. And what does prevent you from re-asking your question in the part of the forum Taky pointed you to? Finally, to answer your question: There are microphone systems taht have intercahngable caps so that you can use a supercardoid at one point and an omi at the other. The Sennheiser K6 system comes to mind as well as the Beyerdynamic blue line. However, these are professional systems that will cost you as much or more than your camera and it doesn`t sound like you want to spend that much.

Bossfrog,
I closed that thread not because you are impolite. It was because the same question has been asked many times. I redirect you to the other thread and said "Please join this thread to continue discussion" which means you can ask you questions in that thread instead of starting a new one.
That was also a sticky thread which many members already "subscribed" to. If you post your question there, they will receive email notification on the subject. You will have a higher chance for someone already know the topic to give you better answer.
Hope you can enjoy the forum. Thanks
Taky

I belive the problem is the hv20 itself
it appeals to both the novice and the more experienced,
so you get questions at both ends,
