I didn't mean to copy an earlier poster, but when I went out in the backyard to shoot my first sample footage there just happened to be a bee buzzing around some flowers.

Everything is on auto "right out of the box" settings. You can hear quite a bit of motor noise in the background, though the mic does pick up the buzzing bee and the birds pretty well.
I've also uploaded some rough sample footage for an idea I have for an HD camping, relocation, real estate HD web site. The first scenes are shot on a tripod (not leveled, oops) and the last part is me holding the camera out the car window (and it looks like it).
Oh well... I have lots of room for improvement. :hv20-smilie77:

It's shot in HDV 1080i, not 24p. I'm not sure what the shutter speed & aperture settings were because I haven't even sat down to read how to change them.
It's called switch power button to "Camera", and push "Record" button. That's it!
What I've found with the camera so far is that it's all about lighting. If you have great light you'll get great video. In medium or low light the picture starts to look more like SD video.
I can hear the motor sound on the bee video. To me it sounds like a low hum. The other videos audio track is turned down vs. the music.

I heard the motor loud and clear. Either consider yourself lucky that you can't hear it, or consider yourself unlucky that you should get your hearing checked!

Don't feel too bad. You can hear tape noise even with expensive camcorders. For even slightly good sound, you need external mics.

OK, that's it..
If that is "right out of the box", then I want one of these things like right now...
I joined this board as a "learning curve" thing to get ready to purchase an HV20. See what it'll do, etc. etc. yada yada
I am VERY impresed !!

Nice clip! You should use a polarised filter. Then you would get even higher contrast (at the end of the clip you get a lot of reflected white from the flower).

When I first opened up the file to watch it (the one with the bees) those colors popped right off my screen. Definitely look great. The second video is what I was talking about in a previous thread. I love watching videos like that from different locales. I might not ever make it out to Idaho, but watching these types of videos makes me feel like I've been there.

Elkoss,
I'm dying to get my hands on a wide-angle lens. Would I then try to sandwich a polarizing filter between the HD20 and the lens?
Thanks for the good advice. I was up backpacking and took some nice wildflower shots but some of them were too blown out - probably because of the light reflection you're talking about.
Everyone else - thanks for the nice comments. I'm just starting my project and my shooting is pretty amateur but I'm learning as I go along.

Call videodirect on Monday. They got some WD-H43's in. They are shipping orders out, but may have an extra. Try them
