This is probably a bit silly.......but can you only rewind the tape by holding down the rewind arrow on the screen ? Is there a way of rewinding with just a touch of a button/menu option ? And how do I rewind with just the blue screen rather than see the video playing backwards. I'm sure I did this with my first test recording but on giving it a good run with a 10 minute video tonight I can't seem to find the same setting again.I'm only recording and playing through a tv till my PC is upgraded and I decide on software. I'm still using the "out of the box" auto settings but I'm astonished at the results,no wobbling, unbearable motor noise, all those doubts I had came to naught:hv20-smilie70:

Stop the video with the right hand of the four buttons and then press rewind button. If the tape is playing and you press the rewind, the camera goes into rewind/search mode i.e. to look for an aready played scene. You get the best of both worlds!!!

It reminds me of the old video players,we had to sit with our finger on the rewind button till the tape finished rewinding. We're told to always rewind the mini dv tape when finished. Oh well, no quick method for that it seems. But yes,I I can see its great for scene detect. Many thanks for your help Terfyn.

I think you are trying to rewind while the play button is pressed. Then You need to keep your fingers on the rewind to continue. (also the video would appear to move backward).

For automatic rewinding, press STOP first. You will see the blue screen. Then press the rewind button once. In that way it would continue till it reaches the beginning of the tape. You dont have to hold.

ahhhhhhhhh thats what happened the first recording I did, now I think about it. The last one I pressed the stop button but no blue screen and it seemed to go into pause. In trying to find a solution, I may have even pressed other buttons and put the operation out of kilter. Now I know what to look for, that blue screen, I should be fine. Thanks for that Hizbiz:hv20-smilie77:

Quick question about the rewinding and forwarding while playing.

When you are playing the tape and you rewind or forward to search does the picture go very blocky?

This never happened on my other DV cameras

Yes the picture goes blocky.

It doesn't bother me really.

Maybe it's just me, but I never like to scan the tapes that way for very long. I always thought it was hard on the tape and/or tape heads. Anyone?

The blocky doesn't bother me either, just making sure its normal, thanks for the respond.
