HELP ME!!! I have been carrying around a semi pro camera for a year and I am used to the big feel and somewhat pro look. Well, I went down to my local Best Buy to handle a HV20. It's fun to watch a salesperson, who says he knows everything about the camera, when you ask him "How do you change the aperture on this thing"? The dude's eyes went crossed. Anyway, the HV20 has all the manual control I could want but I am still so skeptical because of the price and size.
Does anyone have a clip of their best and worst footage side by side?
Please convince me so I can stop going back and forth about buying this camera.

This is a great website. Just look at all the posts and especially watch the clips posted. It'll do you good to do some of the digging/learning on your own.

Here's some of my worst footage to give you an idea of what the HV20 is capable of, when things aren't quite right:

(about 3MB)
(this was shot using the HV20, 1/60th second shutter speed, in 24p and cinemode; I resized it to 720p for this upload, so it's smaller in file size. As you'll be able to tell the footage suffers tremendously, I think mainly because there was a problem; could be because the lens cap was left on; but not 100% sure of course...)

That's not too bad...with the Sony Color Corrector tool I was able to touch it up a bit:

TWO WORDS:
"BUY IT"
I have seen online deals as low as $799 for this camera. You can't even get a lens for an A1 for $800. I have had this camera since the release date and it has never let me down. I am still impressed with it every time I use it.

ha! :hv20-smilie81:
Actually I was lying of course, the footage never saw an HV20 and was generated in VEGAS, and what you see is the TV SIMULATOR FX.:hv20-smilie45:

The way I look at things now is like this, there's the HV20 and there is the Red One.

Haha, yeah! :hv20-smilie77:
(although I am still thinking they are going to be WAY more delayed than most think. I have a reservation (under 1000), and think I won't see it until next year....if at all.
They will be faced with FAR more issues than what can be calculated/imagined right now. After the first 100 or so ship and put through the paces, there'll be further delays as some other things will need changing, and so forth, and so forth.....just my 0.02 Centesimi)
