No sound from camera during playback or import

Have the HV20 hooked via FireWire to a dual core Intel iMac
Problems;
1. No sound from the computer during playback or import.
2. I can hear sound from the HV20 speaker or via headphones.
Was able to get sound in during previous imports.
Any suggestions?

I kept getting error messages about not using the right codec, and the whole app would crash the moment "capture" would begin.
I found convoluted tutorials. The best and clearest were the FCE tutorials at Apple.
So I reinstalled with all the LiveType media that I hadn't installed before.
Initial success! It appears that the capture is behind and no sound during import but is there afterwards.
I'm just glad I got this far after many hours of trying to find the answer.
