Ive put this prob on here b4. I got back great answers just none that solved the prob. Im running FCE 3.5. I shoot in dv wide and would like to edit in FCE not Imovie hd like i usually do. I went to easy setup and chose dv anamorphic my settings on the hv20 r right, but still cant capture anything. Any suggestions im really trying to learn this program. I gotta lot of projects coming up and im ready to work. Also the program works because i had a little footage that was shot in HDV and I chose hdv 1080i/60i in easy set up and it worked. But it took a long time to capture...Any suggestions? Im so stumped its ridiculous.

I don't use FCE but woudl suspect capturing HDV may not happen in realtime. Much of this is dependent on the power of your computer and the speed of your drive (and if you're saving to an internal drive or external).
Is the speed of FCE much different than iMovie?
Note that there are settings in HV20 regarding it's output. Make sure you shot in the format you want and the output to the DV are set correctly as well.

Ive been doin a lot of reading...Does it matter that im shooting in dv wide? Or should I shoot in regular dv?

Have you set your HV20 to DV-out instead of HDV? Also make sure your tape isn't parked on a timebreak without timecode when starting capturing.

When filming try not to have gaps between shots. If you review your footage start shooting from the place you left off so the images continue. If there's a black gap between there's no timecode information. This confuses any editing program that uses timecode.

I've heard there are a lot of capturing problems with Express HD (is this the same as 3.5?). I've been offered a copy for $50 and it sounds like it might be worth it (since i can't edit HD at the moment) but these capture issues concern me. Is there an easy way to capture with another program and export to FCE?
