I am considering buying a Canon HV20 as it has good reviews, also it does most of the things that I require. I already have a copy of Adobe Premiere Elements 4.

But! Having read through this forum and some other forums, I am perturbed by the reoccurring problem of capturing the clips from the HV20.

Therefore my questions are:

1. Does anyone have NO trouble capturing to Adobe Premiere Elements 4?
2. If so why when other seem to have so much problems?
3. To those who have had and are still having problems would you reconsider buying a HV20 if you could turn the clock back?

I’m hesitating and holding back from the purchase while I await your answers! :hv20-smilie50:

First, you need to let us know where you are located (i.e. PAL or NTSC).

Sorry for the ommission! I'm in a PAL area (South Africa).

With a PAL HV20 you'll have no problems capturing footage.

The most "difficulties" are with the NTSC version and its required 24p pulldown removal. The PAL version shoots 50i or 25p, both of which are easily captured and edited.

I'll add though: I don't know the specific capabilities of 'Adobe Premiere Elements 4'!

Thanks Mal for the information.

I’m not too sure what Pulldown is but I take it PAL is not affected by it, if I understand you correctly.

I would like to know if someone has any experience with Adobe Premiere Elements and Canon HV20 and if there are any problems between the two.

Why are you worried about capturing via Adobe ?

You can use HDVsplit to capture from the HV20, it's free and works with both XP and Vista:hv20-smilie03:

Generally it's not the software that has problems but the system, Vista can cause problems
