Unfortunately, as with most video forums, the masculine members will outnumber the feminine ones by at least 10:1.
A real shame really....

If the casting session I did this weekend is any indication you are completely correct. I had 4 roles to fill. Two male and two female. Five males showed up, 14 females showed up. Interestingly though, some males who didn't confirm showed up, yet some females that DID confirm flaked out.

Nah. It would be a shame if this were a dating site though. :)

That sounds about right. I've always had similar results for my auditions. Way more women than men show up, and guys who didn't confirm will come while women that did will flake. Of course that often goes either way too, but the numbers are always the same, more women than men show up. (Unless perhaps it were an all male gig, but I've not done one of those to see)

Gender is a feature of many languages, where they have masculine, feminine and sometimes neuter. Male and female are sexes, not genders. This common mistake became almost a norm in American craze for PC.

Well, according to you maybe. You are talking about grammatical gender. Gender, according to my knowledge, can indeed also mean: "The properties that distinguish organisms on the basis of their reproductive roles".
'Regional language anomaly' is a tricky territory! :)

Though I think the role of biology in behavior is generally underestimated in this case I do think it's cultural--nurture not nature.

I think it's genes too, not just social stuff. I am just an exception to the rule. From the moment I remember myself I was a geek. Nobody "molded" me to be that way. If anything, my mother always tried to make me a lady. She failed. I can't even clean up my own house. I hate housewife work.

Me too! But I do it anyway LOLAll so interesting and well put. Humans are a spectrum of dis-ease of diverse states of being.
A poll of sexual orientation would be welcome too. Perhaps:
"How do you categorize yourself"
purely heterosexual
in between, or was, at sixteen
purely homosexual
totally disinterested in sex

So what if God or another deity was on this forum? Don't you think we should have one for them? I mean, if the trans are getting one, I think the creator of Earth or whatever he/she hath maketh deserves one too.

That's because most girls are in the fashion design classes. By choice. And most girls spend at least as much money on shoes, t-shirts, dresses, accessories, and make-up as guys do on electronics, if not more (not that I mind, it's just true). I have 2 sisters, so I know.
Why are girls not as involved in the behind-the-scenes of cinema? Cause they choose not to be. They want to be in front of the camera.
I don't know any of my film buddies who would turn down a female interested in the techy-side of film-making as long as she had the same talent as anybody else. I also don't know many females at all who are into videography.
On the flipside, I know a TON of girls who do photography. I know a lot more girls who do photography than guys. I think they find it to be more "artsy". Video isn't always "artsy".

well i have about 5 pairs of shoes max, and that includes training shoes, don't accessorise, have an emergency dress, and shop in Maplin electronics store regularly

i know and like the company of many video enthusiasts, some even male, much less talented/experienced than me....some people's criteria for info swapping and camaraderie isn't limited to how much people know....
I also don't know many females at all who are into videography.

I take no offense. Mal is actually my father, the only reason I posted "1997" was because I am 13, and therefore I am a teenager.
"If you got me here and said, Ricky, I didn't find you funny. I've never found you funny. You've got an annoying face. I've never liked you. I'd say, that's fine. But if you say, and I saw you eating a squirrel in the park. I'd go, no no no, no you didn't."
