I read about this media player from a Hong Kong magazine years ago. I downloaded it and it works great. It's called KMPlayer.

It plays everything including wmv, real, quicktime, mp4, vob. It also play the .ifo file from the TS_Video folder of DVD. It will play the DVD with menu nagivation, even the ts_video folder is in your harddrive.

The best feature I like about this player is the mouse-wheel act as zoom in and zoom out. I can easily fit a 4:3 video to widescreen by cropping the top and bottom. Unlike WinDVD or PowerDVD that scretch certain part of the screen.

I recommended this player to many people. Some don't bother to try because it's a Korean made program. But for those who tried love it so much. To me, I found it even better then VLC.

Give it a try and you'll like it. It's FREE afterall.

OH sorry to hear that. It's very stable for me. I have been using it for a couple of years now. I don't even have WinDVD, PowerDVD or other DVD playback program installed.

I tried VLC and don't like it. KMPlayer is great in playing DVD content (by dragging the video_ts folder). I also like it the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out of the video. It's good to zoom in 4:3 content to a wide screen monitor.

I tried KMPlayer, but found it to be unstable and fussy compared with VLC.

Only time I have problem with VLC is when playing 1080p WMV's... but for that I have MPC... so I'll doubt that I'll adopt the KMP (why are all of these players shortened to exactly 3 letters? :P)

I tried VLC (again) and found that i couldn't play some files that I could play with Media Player Classic. I'll give KM Player a try...

KM player is the best player I have seen so far.
VLC is pretty amazing also but it is very buggy.
I found the button to change the aspect ratio very helpful. I know aspect ratio can be changed in other players but not as easily as in KM player.

Did it crash with everything as you said? Are your sure everything is properly installed? Which file types did you try to play?

I like it the best as I can just doubleclick the .ifo file in the video_ts folder stored in HARDDRIVE to play the DVD. Also, the mouse wheel to zoom in and out. Nice too. In the Video Rendering page, there're lots of options.
