Hi all
I took the footages from this german review (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fxsupport.de%2F21.htm l&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=en&safe=off&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools) and ran them through after effect's remove grain filter, just to see how degraining can make low light footages look better.

Compared to HC7 HV20 has finer grain, and it seems to help removing grain pattern without losing too much sharpness.

A quicktime here (http://hv20.info/yopu/HV20_HC7_grain.mov).

Nice test!

Have to ask though, what's up with the color difference? Were the cams not white-balanced or does the HV20 really look that much better?

The reviewer said that he used auto mode for test shooting, so it's HC7 and HV20's AWB at work. Sony's seem to cast too much blue in it, and Canon looks more natural.
