Screensize versus portability, which do you prefer? I can't make my mind up. :hv20-smilie51:

Portability: sure you have more with powerbook, but if you buy or have an imac, you decided to work at the desk!
I have one new intel based alluminium Imac 2.4ghz 2 g. ram and i'm really satisfied...sorry for my english!

I guess I will wait until January. I don't like the glossy screen and hope they will reintroduce the matte screen option again.

I'm typing this on an iMac 2.4 24"...a badass computer.

I don't mind the glossy screen at all. You do notice it at first, but now it's not an issue at all.

I guess it all depends on how much video editing you do. The new iMac's are actually faster than the high end MBP's, but MBPs offer portability and an express slot that you can put a SATA card in, etc.

I love my iMac.

imacs have a slightly faster processor available 2.8 vs. 2.6 but the video card is much better in the Mac book pro. I edit on one and am going to get a new one.

Apple suggests matte screen over glossy for truer colors when video editing.

You edit on an iMac? Unfortunately they are only sold as glossy. :(

The thing about screen size is easy, with a Mac Book Pro I can be portable, at home I can be hooked to my Dell 24" or my Sony 1080P 46". Mac looks bad as on HD TV.

Funny I hook to my Dell 24" when I have clients come over. I hook in a keyboard and wireless mouse too. People can't see that i am doing their commercials on a 15" mac book pro cuz they see my big desk, big screen and under teh desk is my big beefy Dell that I ran my Avid on when I was using AVID.

Can you only hook one monitor to a Macbook Pro? I'm asking this because I have a small Sony broadcast monitor also, which I would like to connect in order to see true colors.

Well I wish I had commercials to pay my equipment, where do you live and what are you shooting? That's also why I thought about an iMac. It's easier to write off. But the glossy display sucks. Maybe I should wait till Macworld next month, to see what they announce. But it doesn't look great for iMacs. They were announced around august.
