I'm stuck. Have fantastic HV30 camera which connects via Fire Wire to my PC. My PC is old and I'm looking for a new one in the UK WITH FIRE WIRE Port. None seem to be available. Does anyone know a new 2012 computer with the port that I can buy?

It's not difficult at all to buy and install a FireWire card yourself.

You would need to look at the motherboard specs to see if the computer offers firewire, but I think the easiest thing would be to buy a firewire card and drop it into a spare slot on the new motherboard. They are not expensive.
Your existing PC may have firewire capability because of a firewire card. If so, take it out and put it in the new computer.

If you buy a laptop, if it doesn't have firewire, make sure it has a PCMCIA card slot. Firewire cards are also available for laptops (PCMCIA). If you want to switch to mac, the new lineup of standard MacBook Pro still offers firewire on both the 13" and the 15" model. Only the high end "retina" MacBook Pro (15") does not have firewire. Should Apple decide to drop firewire on future Macs, Thunderbolt --> Firewire adapters will be available.

it is available already at the Apple Store (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD464ZM/A) for 29 bucks.
Additionally to CityTops great advice, MacBook Airs officially don't have FW either, but with the adaptor mentioned above, they have one.

I got a firewire card for about $5 with free shipping for my desktop. It has firewire and mini-firewire. Goes in a pci or pcie slot.
