These were both filmed with no extra lenses or any add-ons, and I used out-of-the-box/auto settings unless otherwise noted in the video.

First Outdoor Footage Taken + Ants footage:
http://www.pixelgrill.com/public/hv20/

Both edited with Premiere Pro 2, the outdoor footage is raw, the image has not been filtered or altered and is directly how the camera saved it. The ants video has been stylized with Premiere. I am very happy with the depth-of-filed shots achieved with just the stock lense! Definately measures up to my XL1's DOF.

That Ant video was AMAZING! I thought I was watching Discovery Channel. Very good work!

ha thanks. that was like a 5 minute edit and I usually keep it professional (with client work anyway) and stick to hard-cuts and fades only, but with this one I just wanted to kinda break some rules, let loose a little bit.

Yes, the ant clip is amazing...I hate the techno/rap, though, haha! (What client wanted video of ants, anyway?)

Nice footage. The editing is great, too. Both videos show what someone who knows how to frame a shot can achieve. I usually get someone else to do that for me...

Was that auto-focus you were using? Looked like it to me, just curious. It's very fast auto-focusing once it finds something to focus on.

watch out, that is exactly what limits someone's video editing skills. EVERY genre out there can be sppropriate for video productions or clips. i do not have a favorite type of music, and as a videographer i am required to like all forms and styles...think about it...if i do a wedding video, then i do a school event video, then i do a corporate shoot, then i do a bar mitzvah, then i film a luncheon foor people over 60, or whatever...i will be pulling music from all kinds of artists, and styles...

you will notice that may of the clips i post on here or on my site (pixelgrill.com) have music from all over the board of styles and tastes.

don't limit yourself by saying you don't like a cetain type of song...FYI - there are many people who make these "sample footage" videos, or short films, and they ALWAYS use the same genre. the WORSt has got to be those people age 16 - 22 who think every video they make has to have some emo-punk rock song whining about the trials and tribulations of teenage angst..however, there is a time and place for those songs also (very VERY rarely though)

anway, just wanted to say that, since i've seen alot of people posting clips lately, some people multiple clips even with the same musical artist. branch out! get involved with the entire scene, not only the 10-15% of it you may like.

FYI - this is not directed at anyone specific, or an insult. just something i've been wanting to say lately.

thanks,
~ crobs

Nope.

Just use Philip Glass or something like that (Minimalism) and you'll never go wrong.

It's virtually a law now...punishable by death: All t.v. commercials/Michael-Moore wannabe anti-Bush docs all basically rip off of Philip Glass (since his music is so serious).

I guarantee you...you could throw Glass at ANYTHING and it is guaranteed to work.

kinda what im tlaking about....people who use one artist for everything. very monotonous and unprofession (my opinion) and i think it should be varied up...in one video production i will us a contemporary rock song, next i will use an opera song, next i will use ambient/meditation music, and then befor eyou know it im mixing american country with scottish/celtic music, so if you are using music from all walks of life you are doing the right thing. there is no ONE artist that is good for everything, and i think most people would agree with that.

I know what you're saying and agree.

However you'd be surprised if you used Glass. Glass is like a panacea for any project. You can throw his music into either a comedy or an intense drama and it will work just as effectively.

His music is great and weird in that respect.

Please don't be offended, but...

Whenever I download any clip from this AMAZING website, I always turn the volume off.

I really am not that interested in the music/editing style/storytelling. I strictly am curious as to the technical/qualitative issues this camera can provide.

I turn it on :hv20-smilie03: I can see the technical merits of the camera and learn from others' (superior) editing skills.

@ Framecut, you must be watching with the sound turned down :hv20-smilie87:

porn with a phillip glass soundtrack? A little highbrow, but interesting, I guess.

You don't use music for porn. It affects the 'concentration'

I disagree. It helps maintain a good rhythm :hv20-smilie31:

I used to use music, but the complaints from the familes who view my porn made me decide not to use it.
