So i've been poking around for quite some time here and you guys have convinced me to buy an HV20. (Yeah, like it took soooo much convincing..)

anyways, i'm a biiiig guerrilla-video/film junky and love DIY projects and making something awesome from something cheap. I think it pushes the envelopes of creativity.

So while i wait for my HV20 to arrive, i'm planning on building one of Daniel's infamous DIY 35mm Adapters but through searching his site and this one, i can't figure out the difference between his Vibrating GG-Holder and Static GG-Holder. (besides one vibrates and the other doesn't) Which one do i go with? Whats vibrating? Why is it vibrating?

and whats a GG anyways?

i'll admit that i'm new to this whole lens-adapter thing, but hell, i gotta start somewhere. better here than elsewhere.

thanks, if anyone minds explaining this all.

Basically motion blur introduced by vibrating the GG will get rid of the diffusion particles on the GG. And GG is that screen that your camcorder sees and that gives you the DOF from 35mm lenses. In the case of HD resolutions the static screen can get annoying and it shows you every dust spec on the GG too but vibrating one softens or eliminates that.
Search www.vimeo.com for "static 35mm" and "vibrating DOF" respectively to see the difference. I strongly recommend vibrating one. Static one once almost ruined 2 weeks worth of expedition footage because of static dust and grain over bright blue skies.
Also when using a EEs or EEa focusing screen the frensel rings might show up on static ones.

Cheers,
