AFAIK, yes, both are proprietary, although there are (or will be) alternatives in both cases: RED offers a V-lock battery plate with Lemo power connector, and a CF card caddy for the SSD slot.

CF cards will not work with Scarlet X, you'll need their SSD, which kills it for me. Full shooting kit will cost you about 30K (extra batteries, media and lenses), plus you'll need a solid RAID setup- 64GB gets you about 16 minutes of footage. For editing you'll need also a quad core with at least 8GB RAM, so count on about 40K up front cost, so you are able to shoot a day, offload footage and edit. Not really ideal for indy film makers.
